For favourite films, reviews, and films which should be avoided at all costs.
My favourite film, and one that I can watch over and over again is the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
It's based on a graphic novel set in an alternate 1899. The world is on the brink of war, due to a series of attacks which no one will claim responsibility for. To save the day, the legendary Allan Quatermain is called out of retirement to lead a league of Victorian fictional characters to stop the disruption of a vital peace conference. The league consists of Mina Harker (Dracula), Rodney Skinner (not actually in the book, but of the same ilk as The Invisible Man), Dr. Jekyll (and Mr. Hyde), Dorian Grey (The Portrait of Dorian Grey), Captain Nemo (20,000 Leagues Under te Sea) and Tom Sawyer.
I love it because it's just fun. It doesn't make you think too hard, and looks fantastic. The actor who plays Tom Sawyer, Shane West, summed it up nicely by saying "It's basically two hours of us looking cool" (paraphrased). This is the film I watch when I'm off sick and I can just look at the cool. It does require willing suspnsion of disbelief, so if you get upset at historical of literary discrepancies, best to stay away. Otherwise, take a look! _________________ He who does not eat cheese will go mad. ~ French proverb.

My very favourite films, in the order I first saw them:
Spirited Away
O Brother Where Art Thou?
Donni Darko
Stardust.
Films which I will gouge out my own eyes to avoid watching:
Anything with Hugh Grant (With the exception of Bridget Jones' Diary, not the sequel though)
Horror movies (I'm too squemish for the genre)
Sequels of any sort.
And above all Troy. I have such a loathing for this film it is beyond your comprehension. _________________ Britland as dubbed by AsA

Some movies are meant to have sequels, and I've seen a few that are ok, but those sequels that were made only because the first movie was so successful should be avoided.
Spirited Away is great, but, out of Miyasaki's movies, I like Nausicaa and Howl's Moving Castle better. _________________ Dubbed Cube by Asa

Sequels can be tricky, if something is planned in three parts, e.g. Lord of the Rings then I don't really count the other two films as seqeuls.
However, when a film has passed its prime and they are still churning out movies, that's when it gets on my nerves. E.g. Pirates of the Carribean and Cinderella. (Seriously, a sequel to Cinderella?) At this point I just think that the company are more concerned with making money than making an enjoyble film. _________________ Britland as dubbed by AsA

All the sequels to fairy tales are wierd, since a fairy tell ends with 'happily ever after' and you can't add anything to that... _________________ Dubbed Cube by Asa

AVOID "FANTASTIC MOVIE".
Seriously. I wish my classmates hadn't managed to convince me into watching it. I can't believe that I actually stayed in the cinema for half an hour.
I hate hate hate hate it.
Movies I like:
Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribean, Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride, almost all good old 2-D-animated DisneyMovies, Amélie, Nightmare Before Christmas, Meet Joe Black (omg, it's so kitschy XD), uhmtherehavetobemore... _________________ Dubbed "Moor" by Asa.*

| I liked Memento a lot. The Shawshank Redemption was also an excellent movie. |

Wow! no-one I know has ever heard of it, let alone see it! *dances in a circle* I guess you live in Europe... so, it is more likely than Americans having seen it... but still! _________________ Dubbed Cube by Asa

Likewise, I very much enjoyed Amelie. I wish I had better understood the language (understood it at all, actually) so that I could better get the nuances. And if you'd believe it, actually borrowing the movie at on my campus is almost impossible: it's ALWAYS checked out. So there, Cube.
I'm generally a shameless action-movie fan, but I like some other films. "Into the Wild" was the last movie I saw in theaters; terrific. _________________ The Keeper of Gwen's temper/K'thonya's tastes,

Well, maybe I'm mistaken, but no-one who isn't French 'round here has heard of it, that I know, anyway. Then again, since there is that annoying 'rating' thing in this country, it's rated R, so that might be part of it... -__-;; _________________ Dubbed Cube by Asa

I enjoyed Amelie a lot as well...though I am certainly not French.
Let me just say I loathe Eragon just to clear the air. I'm ashamed I went to see the movie. _________________ Fall down seven times, get up eight. --Japanese Proverb

I payed four dollars to see a dragon hatch - the rest didn't exist.
I tend to hate movies that are adaptations of books - not that there haven't been some really good ones, and they're among some of my favorite movies. But I'm talking about the Disney ones. And they always destroy my favorite books too. the top two that make me shudder are Ella Enchanted and A Wrinkle in Time .
Favorite Movies:
Pan's Labyrinth, Beauty and the Beast, Atonement, LOTR, The Great Escape, Stalag 17, Juno, Lagaan(<3 hindi movies), Arsenic and Old Lace, The Great Dictator, Modern Times . . .and the list goes on. . . _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

I'm a big fan of anything Tim Burton really, I think he's just so wonderfully twisted! I was quite impressed with Sweeny Todd, and majorly love the Nightmare Before Christmas.
Anything Classic Disney is also a winner!
