Some wolvie solo comics are good. Some aren't. It really depends on the writer. Wolverine: Origins, for instance, is excellent. And i wouldn't even have noticed Deadpool if you hadn't mentioned him, Virt, though he ought to be present in any major examination of the weapon x program.
It's a real shame that the film rights to the various Marvel characters are owned by different studios. A crossover between The Avengers stable (particularly captain america...) and Wolverine would be awesome. And canonical. Weapon plus program and all that. _________________ Keeper of Tristram's rings, and Felucca's very expressive ears. |

Pfft, I say. I've been hearing rumours of remakes of:
-"The Warriors" - they can't do this post-1980 without it being ridiculously camp, in a bad way.
- "The Lost Boys" - WHY. WHY DO YOU NEED TO.
- "Battle Royale" - I sense they'll end up casting Efron and one of the Jonas'. D: Though if they got in Samuel L. Jackson or Neal McDonough for the Kitano role, it might be worth it.
Though I am excited by the rumours of Ghostbusters 3 and Terminator Salvation. And another film whose name I've forgotten. >< _________________ Bernard [about the job]: The pay's not great, but the work is hard.

I meant to post here on Saturday.
Watched Transporter on Friday. Really good movie, great action. You could see them pulling punches in a few scenes, and there was some Jackie Chan-esque choreography, but completely solid otherwise. _________________ ...In accordance with the prophesy.

I own that on Blu-ray ^^
Part 2 as well. You should see Crank.
Anyway, the meat of my post:
TWO FAMOUS TWIST ENDINGS AND THE MOVIES THEY WERE STOLEN FROM
I know a lot of people talk about twist endings, and there are two in particular that are VASTLY overrated - mostly because they're completely stolen. This post, obviously, has spoilers.
THE SIXTH SENSE - 1999
In this movie, a little boy sees dead people, and only one therapist believes him and helps him.
It turns out the therapist is a ghost too, he just doesn't know it.
(Stolen from)
CARNIVAL OF SOULS - 1954
A woman escapes a car crash and retreats to a haunted carnival where she is spooked by ghosts.
It turns out she died in the crash and now she's a ghost haunting the carnival too.
____________________
THE CRYING GAME - 1992
A British soldier is kidnapped by IRA terrorists and falls in love with one of them, a smokin' lady terrorist.
It turns out she's a man.
(Stolen from)
SLEEPAWAY CAMP - 1984
A shy girl, Angela, who lost her brother, Peter, and her dad in a boat crash gets sent to camp with her cousin Ricky by crazy Aunt Martha, and people who insult her are killed off.
It turns out she's not only the killer, but also a dude, namely Peter, since the real Angela actually died in the crash and Aunt Martha raised Peter as Angela so she could have a daughter.
______________
By the way, there are 3 Sleepaway Camp sequels out RIGHT NOW. None of those other movies got any sequels XP _________________ Just because I like scary things doesn't mean I'M- okay, it kinda does sometimes.

I have to be brutally honest, but I've seen the 'sleepaway camp' trope of 'someone taking on the identity of their brutally killed sibling/miscellaneous relative for various reasons' in a number of places, including manwha and manga. Taking another person's identity for your own isn't always a common theme, but it pops up a lot in 'avenging the family' stories, IIRC.
As for the gender confusion, what about 'Boys Don't Cry', based upon the real events of the murder of 'Brandon Teena'? _________________ Bernard [about the job]: The pay's not great, but the work is hard.

...which is not the context in which it was used in Sleepaway Camp. Peter didn't take Angela's identity, but was forced into it by her Aunt who wanted a girl to raise. And it's not even close to a family revenge story... it's a movie that plays with morals, sanity, and homosexuality. _________________ Just because I like scary things doesn't mean I'M- okay, it kinda does sometimes.

The point I'm trying to get across is that it's not entirely fair to say that the endings/twists were 'completely ripped off' - perhaps I should have been more blunt on that point.
I have read material of a similar vein to Sleepaway Camp, and from the descriptions you given us, in both comparisons, the only thing that these films have in common is the Big Twist, really. The themes and genres are different, and they have completely different Concepts of Otherness. I don't want to be rude, but personally, I feel like it's not entirely compare films when there's only really one thing connecting them that I can see.
As for 'ripping off', I won't launch into the whole "Seven Stories" argument bar from stating the fact that just because you use a similar twist, doesn't render the other story/film/comic invalid. The films will use twists in different ways, and for it to be a complete knock-off, they'd have to more-or-less have the exact same cinematography style... exact same everything really.
I don't intend to criticise, but I'd suggest that if you're going to tell us that you feel like Crying Game and Sixth Sense were just knock-offs of these older films, I think it would be fairer to say why specifically in your review, rather than just compare the synopsises, because for people who haven't watched the film, it's not very accesible or easy to understand. _________________ Bernard [about the job]: The pay's not great, but the work is hard.

It's not really as simple as the movies stealing them straight out of other movies, although in some cases this obviously happens. Creative works are derived from a much broader cultural and enviromental background. _________________ Never forget,

I'm not saying they're knockoffs, I loved The Sixth Sense. I'm just saying that people shouldn't hail them as the most original shockers in cinema (Many do). The "Blatantly stolen" part was comedic exaggeration. _________________ Just because I like scary things doesn't mean I'M- okay, it kinda does sometimes.
