... err, it just never came up. I've been vaguely aware of its existence for years, but just haven't ever picked it up.

That's a weird book, especially the ending. I mean, I understood what happened, just not why. I did like the way everyone curses by saying "Ford!"

It's a deal. I actually own The Diamond Age, I just haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Oh, I did finish the Liveship Traders trilogy, though!

Okay, I read "Brave New World." It was okay. It seems pretty unrealistic, specifically in its assumptions about the effectiveness of governmental attempts to engineer things like attitudes and beliefs. Indoctrination is entirely possible, but it's not nearly as effective as the book depicts it.
