Lady, I think you need a Facebook fan listing for Earthsong. What do you think? _________________

I've thought about it before... but it'd probably end up with my my facebook profile being friended by people I don't actually know. Maybe that sounds snotty, but I really do use it to keep in contact with people and I don't want to have to be turning down people - I feel rude. And it'd just be silly if I didn't join the group/fanlisting myself.
Plus I'm trying to keep my married name out of public intarweb knowledge.
(I already tried to make a "Lady Yates" profile... it won't let me)
So....... I dunno! Am I being weird about this or no? _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.

| No way, that makes a ton of sense. Facebook is pretty personal, I really actually hate it when strangers try to friend me. It weirds me out. |

I've had people who didn't even like me in high school add me after I've not seen them for three years!
...Come to think of it I don't recall you ever mentioning Eric's surname. But I don't think you're being weird about this, my mother insisted I create a facebook profile for her and then she insisted I create a fake name similar to her own. Now that is weird. _________________ Britland as dubbed by AsA

XD I thought about going off a fake name, but so far Facebook is only for people I actually know, so it hasn't really mattered so far. _________________ If you're reading this, you haven't quite made it to the next post. |

A compromise would be to make a profile of your maiden name, which is associated with Earthsong's production anyway, and keep your married name private, as you have been. but i don't know how FB's sign-up procedures work, so i'm not sure how feasible that is. _________________ Keeper of Tristram's rings, and Felucca's very expressive ears. |

It should work, though it's been close to a year since I've created a facebook. I never use it, the site confuses me.
It's perfectly understandable that you don't want to use your married name, I don't think you'd hurt anyone's feelings b not using that one. I second space's idea. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Yeah, I didn't put my last name on Facebook for a long time. And I have no pity turning down complete strangers who friend me :P Granted, they're not my fans persay, just underclassmen from my HS who want to have college facebook friends.
I vote no crazy vibes from the Lady on this one. |

Facebook is pretty personal for me, and I have no qualms about turning people away. You're not crazy, Lady. I do like the idea of a group, though. And I'm fairly sure you can create a new profile with Lady Yates; after all, who are they to tell you your name isn't Lady? You'll just need a new e-mail. _________________ Keeper of Zaebos' and Jormand's powers.

E-mail's easy, anyone will give it to you.
Or one of us could do it, and just mention that we're being a proxy to protect the Lady's anonymity.
But yeah, I've been friended by people I barely said two words two in high school. I think it happens to everyone. _________________ Mors Certa, Vita Incerta.

While I think an Earthsong group would be a fun thing to have, but I can understand the Lady's reservations about mass-friending.
I've been friended by people who probably thought I was stark raving mad back in senior school and most of the time I don't even get a courtesy Wall post! (I STILL am stark raving mad, but that's neither here nor there as far I'm concerned. XP) But since I put up my security to crazy high, I've not really had that.
That having been said, I do use it mainly to keep up with the friends I have made out here, and to stay in touch with friends from home.
But perhaps like Cypher says, you can set up a dummy e-mail purely for Facebooking as Lady Yates, and therefore a dummy facebook account? I know someone at my university managed to set one up for a fictional character from one of our textbooks, so it must be doable. _________________ Bernard [about the job]: The pay's not great, but the work is hard.

I don't see it as something really personal myself, but I suppose I don't actually USE it for anything other than it's Email/PM functions. It's probably a bigger deal if one actually puts effort into maintaining one's profile with the current moods and whatnot...
Two out of three "friends" on that site I've never spoken a coherent statement to. |

The thing I like about Facebook is how personal it can be-no crazy strangers knowing where my friends and I are headed this weekend for me, thank you very much. Turn them away, I say, turn them away! *waves a lit torch crazily about*
That's not to say I trust Facebook implicitly. Never, ever trust the Internet.
So yeah, I probably wouldn't join an Earthsong group, even if all you fine people were on it-it's all the coarse people I fear. _________________ I love children...but I could never eat a whole one.

same here for me. I like who personal it is. though i have a few gaming friends on it. xD
I probobly wouldnt join it if it was made personally ^^:;
I have a myspace that doesnt have practicly any not known info on it because i dont like how unpersonal it is. Just like my LJ is set to friends more time than public (though i was so annoyed during my last one it is on public >.>;; ) _________________ Your neighborhood cat,
