hi guys! Glad to know I'm not forgotten Smile You're so wonderful, I hope you know that!

Photos of Ireland? I've got a journal running on LiveJournal, I'm very behind on my updates but I've got about two months summarized and illustrated on there!

http://minnesotakid.livejournal.com/

I'll be putting up info on my trip to The Ring of Kerry, St. Patrick's Day Weekend, and The Mizen Peninnsula soon, I hope. So much to do, so very little time!

Fable! Is Ireland as beautiful as everyone says? I hope so!

Today I watched the Hunger Games and was very impressed.

Today one of my car tires decided to die. I managed to hunt down a friend's boyfriend who knows cars to put the spare on. He was also very nice and made sure it had enough air and told me that my other front tire was not long for this world and that my alignment was off. So I took it in to get fixed. And did not get to run my errands or do my homework as a result.

Today I found out that I'm getting my job back at the park! Yaaaaaaay! And there was much celebration!!

Today I decided to register for the Sci-Fi lit course. I can always drop it, later. It was just too tempting . . . >>;;;

Today I'm hoping that all of the classes my Lit teacher has cancelled means we won't have to read Heart of Darkness. Please, powers that be, please.

Hi Fable! Welcome back. That's so exciting that you're in Ireland. Is it as beautiful as the pictures make it look?

Today type musings:

Ironically, it's colder today now that Spring is here than it has been all winter...

I finally got started on a paper due two months ago, so that's half done. Nothing else has really gotten progress, though.

Had the first readthrough of the play - my character has the most lines, and also the most complicated lines. She's a doctor who's a little out of touch with her emotions, and there's a ton of jargon that I have to know well enough to make it seem like no big deal I'm using it. And the bacteria! There's one place where she and the guy exchange sweet nothings in the form of bacteria names... It'll be fun, but a definite challenge.

Welcome back, Fable! I hope Ireland is as wonderful for you as it looks in all the pictures, and sounds in all the stories, that I have seen or heard.

I've done that. I mean, not the sweet nothings part, but had conversations and told jokes through bacteria names. I'm pretty sure most science-track folks could give you a hand with that, because I'm pretty sure we've almost all enjoyed the nerdy glee of a jargon conversation. ^^;

Such as: "Johnny was a chemist's son, but Johnny is no more. What Johnny thought was H2O was H2SO4"

Today, after four years of searching, I finally received a diagnosis. While not the best possible news, it was a step or three up from the worst, so that's good news. Also, now that I know what I'm up against, I know how to go up against it. Specialist soon, then I'll know more.

Today I am exhausted. Playing hooky for a week and a half to take care of your ailing family (father's doing well, I'll mention) is noble, perhaps, but coming back to catch up on coursework is brutal. I have a Math exam on Monday. Yesterday was the first day I was present for the chapter we're having an exam on. Laughing .... Shocked .... Neutral

Well fortunately, I have a med student for a room mate. ^_^ Unfortunately, she said that no one knows how to pronounce bacteria names, so I shouldn't worry about it.

Diagnosis is good - any knowledge is better than none, I think. I hope that this means you're on your way to... some kind of good ending. I don't know if 'cure' should be used, since lots of things are 'incurable' (like ADHD, for a non-lethal example). But secure management, maybe we can say that?

I'm also really glad to hear that your dad's doing better! May the positive vibes continue to flow, and help you ace your math exam! *enthusiastic thumbs up!* Surprised

So glad you've managed to find a diagnosis! Just knowing what you're dealing with makes it seem so much easier. We're still awaiting a similar breakthrough with my brother (if you'd like the full story I'll put it in the venting thread. It's long.) but he's got his first therapist session on Friday so hopefully that's a start at least.

Glad to hear your dad is doing better. Still sending happy thoughts your way.

Today I am feeling odd again :/ I would go to the doctor, but it's not a consistent oddness. It comes and goes every few days. Might be worth a chat anywho.

Are you eating all right? Now, I recognize the fact that few people living comfortably eat as poorly as I do, but sometimes I do go through phases of 'feeling odd', usually when I've been particularly naughty about feeding myself. Something to look into, anyway.

So a funny thing happened at the first readthrough of the play last night. One of the actors was talking before we began about how he was looking at a cookbook over shabbos and wanted to scan it after Shabbos was over, but he forgot.

I said, "Well what about digital cameras? Much more portable and easier to whip out and use for that sort of thing."

"But I forgot. And my friend was leaving for America, so I couldn't go back and do it," he said slowly.

"Oh! That's right. I forgot that access to the book was concordant with access to the scanner."

He looked at me strangely, and said he'd never heard that word before. Another girl with as much love and appreciation for English as me piped up and said, "I know that word, but I've never heard anyone use it before!"

Is it really so odd?

Yes. Don't worry though, you're in good company. I love it when I use a word that everyone knows but has never heard used in casual conversation. "Concomitant" is a good one. And I once boggled my students by asking "Why are the windows shuttered?"

Today my grandmother went on hospice care. She'll probably pass in the next week.

Oh Tin, I'm sorry. It's never easy.

On the happier note of language, I'm often accused of using uncommon words, and, in an attempt to be witty, I have been told I use extraneous vocabulary. It made me smile Smile

On the subject of food... I hadn't considered that. Things have been a bit fraught lately and that tends to manifest in my consumption of junk food. I think I shall go to the shop tomorrow and stock up on some real food.

*Hugs Tin* I'm so sorry. I hope she's comfortable an peaceful, at least.

Usa: I'm glad you've got a diagnosis. Knowing what you're up against can be a lot of help--it can tell you what to expect and it can be good at giving hope ("Here's what we know works"). Good luck with your school work!

Alli: Never underestimate the importance of eating right. Wink My Bio class once did a section on common/horrible system diseases and nearly all of them could be prevented by a healthy diet, a good amount of sleep, and exercise--It seems that most things can. ^__^

Today was the culmnation of my group's efforts. For the past week or two we've had to create a short television advertisement--figure out a product, company, idea, storyboard, script, everything. Today we filmed it. Tomorrow we're going to try and get most of the editing done. Guys, making TV Ads is exhausting.

Or maybe I'm just tired. u___u

Today I went to HR and filled out paperwork and tax forms. I should be back to work in no time!

*offers hugs for Tinman* I hope she can be comfortable, at least. It's always difficult when it's someone you love..

@Alli: I echo the sentiments about food. And I jest that you should know this, as a biologist. Wink

Though, definitely, you should be able to logically understand what junk food can do. Just think of all those free-floating triglycerides, all that lovely cholesterol, the potassium imbalance you're likely to run up against with all that sodium... I mean, the list goes on. And it ain't pretty.

@Tinu: I have a friend who has family in the media business. Once, back in high school, I helped he and his father film, edit, and produce a commercial. It's interesting.. You combine acting, directing, lighting, filming, and a whol ebunch of things that you wouldn't really expect to face! It was a lot of fun, but also a huge energy drain.

Um. Well... the text now looks REALLY weird (I'll take a screen shot), and I'm typing blind, so I think I'll end here. I hope everyone I've missed is well. <3's to you all.

Edit: Like I said...

Thanks. She's as comfortable as they can make her -- morphine is a great boon to the dying. I wish I could go see her, but I'm a thousand miles away and it's just not practical.

Tenshi -- not sure what caused that, but if I had to guess, I'd say the problem is Internet Explorer. Try something else. Anything else. Or if that's too big a step, use the little "compatibility view" button that will make your IE 9 act like IE 7.

Today -- it's past midnight as I write this, so that really is today! -- I'll have a phone interview for a new job. Wish me luck on that!

Campus Library Computers. They have Firefox installed, but almost none of the drivers are updated. :\

Good luck on your interview!

Today I realized I'm not crazy. Four years of not finding a diagnosis can make you feel otherwise. Knowing that I'm not crazy feels like it's done more for my self-esteem in one day than the entire past four years of character building..
