It was math/logic based. I was bound to come in as soon as there was a non-word riddle. =)

A group of explorers set up camp. They then traveled three miles South, three miles East, three miles North, and were back at their camp. On their return they saw a bear nosing through their things, so they shot and killed him.

What color was the bear?

White. In order for them to be back at their camp after having travelled in three lines that line up "straight" with those compass directions, the camp must be precisely at the North Pole, and the bear is a polar bear.
