I went along with a friend the other evening to see the film, and while it did have good parts to it, there was a fair bit of 'meh' as well.

I was REALLY annoyed with the scene where Draco kicks Harry in the face, as normally that kind of kick to the face is a killing strike. A big part of Draco's own story in HBP is how he can't bring himself to be as ruthless as his father, and the way I understood it from the book, it was meant to be a short stamp/beak break and not a full-on punt. Draco is NOT more skillful than Jean Claude Van Damme. The brawling co-ordinator must have been half-asleep for that shot.

Also I concur with the opinions on Fenrir, as an intimidating villain, was about as useful as a migraine, and would have been much improved if played by Ron Perlman. Pesky British actors only rule. That having been said, I've never really been a big fan of Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort - I reckon Luke Goss would be more believable, but that's a personal preference I suppose.

Over all, I get the impression that the director was going for a "dark and moody" feel, and ended up with just a "dank" one. But other than that, it was okay.

I agree with you, Squee, about the build-up for Dumbledore's death. It was sorely lacking, and left you just kind of going, "Buh?" even though it was expected. I do think the horcrux scene was done in a much better way, too.
