Shots from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland are out on the netz! Must...share...immediately....
BEHOLD!
That picture of the Red Queen creeps me oooout. Fantabulous make-up jobs though (especially on Depp)! _________________ My printer thinks it's some kinda guitar hero because it won't stop jamming.

Wow, really creepy and fantastical! Honestly, I'm so glad Burton's doing it. I really don't like Alice in Wonderland. At all. I always thought it was too creepy for the cutesy way it was always portrayed. When I heard that Burton was doing it I was really happy, because I was pretty sure he'd add a really weird spin on it - looks like I was right. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

I must see that. Thank you for the stills!
Anyone else notice that Depp's eyes are not pointing in quite the same direction? _________________ Dubbed "Fish" by Asa. Wren->Fish

I remain skeptical only because Tim Burton has never done a remake that I've liked. (Despite my love of everything else he's ever done)
... but that site seems to say that it's actually a sequel of sorts? That could definitely be more interesting. _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.

I like the idea of it being more of a sequel, because like the lady said, he's not so good at making re-makes. Though I love his Charlie and The chocolate Factory.
Hathaway looks very cool, her and Depp's looks are my favorites so far! _________________ If you're reading this, you haven't quite made it to the next post. |

I hated hated hated his Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was creepy and not in a good way.
(I just had to say that, sorry!)
And Planet of the Apes was just laaaaaaaame. _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.

I actually kind of liked those, although, I don't care how gorgeous Mark Wahlberg is, that does not justify having an ape develop an extremely weird crush on him.
I was also curious about what they meant when they mentioned "sequel" - I wonder if it's going to be a combined telling of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Gah, it makes me fear a bit for the pacing of this movie. _________________ My printer thinks it's some kinda guitar hero because it won't stop jamming.

That's what it says on the site. The Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts are combined into one character. _________________ ...In accordance with the prophesy.

I think the love/hate of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory depends on whether you realise that Roald Dahl's work is *supposed* to be creepy, and not in a good way. Roald Dahl was ever a really disturbing author (especially if you read his stuff for adults *shudder*), and I'm truly glad to see one of his works adapted pretty faithfully, where the creepy weirdness has been seriously toned down for most Dahl films... _________________ Keeper of Tristram's rings, and Felucca's very expressive ears. |

Mostly I didn't like how Depp couldn't decide whether he was a girl or a guy in that film. That's what really turned me off.
Anyway, this strikes me almost like... fanfiction. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Ahhh, for the days of childhood innocence that complete ignored the creepy bits.
His short stories are extremely disturbing too.
I've yet to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but Planet of the Apes was horrible. ^^; _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Burton's Charlie was WAY better than the original, imho. If you go back and watch the original, you'll realize it's almost as creepy, especially in a more modern film-taste. Anyone remember the chocolate river scene in the original? There were VERY creepy photos in that montage, especially for kids.
Anyway, Squee's REALLY excited after seeing this. This is one of those perfect films for Tim Burton...it's just his kind of style to do something so otherworldly as Alice in Wonderland.
Also, <3 Anne Hathaway's pic. |
