So as to prove that I can, in fact, write things that aren't completely morbid... Written to a very clear pacing, at least in my head.

"The Promise"

Would not the colored life I have won
Make interesting the stage of a play
And would not the manipulations I have done
Serve to betray every word I say

So please make it with great care
This decision that you face
Of all my eccentricities be aware
Lest we both remain alone in this place

I would not lie about your decision's ease
For the road ahead is long
Nor would I beg to you upon my knees
I will not chase you when you're gone

Instead I will try to never betray
Any promise to you that I make
And in your trust I shall always lay
Your happiness, I will never try to take

I have little else to offer to you
Save for my words, my mind, my heart
I only can promise that I will do
Anything, so that we do not drift apart

If upon this idea we both do agree
Then I will in every way be true
Know that you can always count on me
And all my days will I be faithful to you
