So I did some research...
Sonic's actually in his first steady sales rise since he went 3D. Sonic Adventure 1 sold about 3.3 million, Sonic Adventure 2 was around 2.7 million, then Sonic Heroes went multiplatform and sold over 5 million.
And then Shadow came, sucked (IMO), and only sold 1.2 million.
But ever since, it's been going up. Sonic '06 got 1.4 million. Sonic and the Secret Rings got 2 million. And Sonic Unleashed sold 1.7 million in just 2 months... so in all likelihood, it's going to outsell Secret Rings, maybe even match SA2.
Unleashed is also outselling Mirror's Edge and Prince of Persia.

I suppose this is good news for the remnants of the bought up Sega considering how Sonic used to be their flagship hero.
Though it's outselling Prince of Persia? 0.0 _________________ Lithrath=Lisa according to Asa, though I respond to Lithy as well

Sammy (another Japanese company) bought a controlling share in Sega before staging a takeover to become Sega Sammy Holdings (Sega name maintained for marketing purposes). Most of the Sonic games were produced post-takeover so I suppose it's irrelevent.
Sega Corp is actually a subsidary of their new parent pachinko company now.
Sega also sold off quite a few of its subsidary studios, such as Visual Concepts (which is where 2K games came from ^__^).
As for Sonic vs POP figures...wow. _________________ Lithrath=Lisa according to Asa, though I respond to Lithy as well

The last time I cared about Sonic was when I played the original on my Genesis... man that was a good game. _________________ I do commissions!

My fondness for Sonic mainly stems from the fact that I was brought up watching my brother play it on the Sega Mega Drive. He loved that thing. We even used to play at being Sonic and Tails (despite the fact that neither of us could run well ^_^; I hope the new versions do it justice, otherwise there will be a lot of disgruntled fans out there. _________________ He who does not eat cheese will go mad. ~ French proverb.

The new Sonic games are alright, but I will forever miss playing it at the arcade. There was something wonderful about Sega's arcade boxes.

I'm generally happy with new Sonic games... though Shadow was terrible, Sonic Heroes was boring, and Sonic Riders was frustrating, and Sonic and the Secret Rings was poorly structured...
...okay, I like the Sonic Adventure ones, the version that came out in 2006, and this one.
Plus the DS ones, all three were good.
...actually, I liked the 2006 one more as a movie than a game...
XDDDD
Okay, I guess I'd sum them up as "hit or miss" lately. _________________ Just because I like scary things doesn't mean I'M- okay, it kinda does sometimes.

I bought a used Sega when I was 19 JUST to play Sonic. I still have it.
... I wonder if it still works? Probably ;p _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.
