Lesson learned ~age 12: Swinging from the rafters is a great way to break you arm.
Lesson learned ~3hrs later: They don't give you a cast if you break your upper arm.
Lesson learned during the next few weeks: Don't try to do anything with a broken arm; it hurts like hades.
Lesson learned ~5yrs later: If you wait long enough to admit your injury was purely from your own disobedience, you don't get in trouble. _________________ ...In accordance with the prophesy.

And now it's time for Tyris' Fun Lessons in Electrickery!
1). When you can't tell which switch position is "on" and which is "off," just unplug the whole thing before you experimentally stick your hand in it.
2). Anything with big capacitors in it is still not safe for a fair while after having been unplugged. This includes but is not limited to TVs, computers and printers.
3). When the fluorescent light is annoying you with its buzzing, there are only so many times you can wallop it to shut it up before it breaks.
4). Do not leave powerful lights uncovered unless you like the smell of burning craneflies.
5). When you've tried every repair job in the book, plus some not written down, and the thing's still not working, refer to point 1 and remember you unplugged it. _________________ You can't look dignified when you're having fun.

This one is kinda a work in progress, but fret not wee ones, one day, I shall figure it out entirely: Metal is generally and excellent conductor of heat, I mean... it's dang good. _________________ I can't remember....oh *le sigh* |

Lesson Learned: No matter how much fun you might be having, it's always best to stop before you over-exert yourself and wake up regretting it the next day. This applies to a far wider range of activities than one might originally believe. _________________ I do commissions!

The application of this lesson is "... so don't leave a penny lying on the car seat when you're parked in the sun on a really hot summer day and wearing shorts, because otherwise you will wind up with Abe Lincoln's face permanently branded into the back of your thigh."

Really? Permanently?
My lesson for today is... when extremely tired and running on fumes, do not close your eyes. You will fall asleep as soon as this happens. And, that as long as you're doing something repetitive, you're all right. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Lesson learned today:
When you're dreaming that you're fighting shadow-ops agents bent on injecting you with something in a syringe, and you end up pulling off some awesome Hollywood action scene...you're probably going to wake up really sore. At least you will if you're like me, and your body doesn't stay stationary when you sleep. I never sleepwalk, but I wake up injured just how I was injured in my dreams all the time. -_- _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

Well, no. It faded after a couple of weeks. And it wasn't me. I heard it on the radio. Listen for yourself, it's amusing, in an "ouch, totally don't want to try that" kind of way. ^_^ _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |

Learned today: If you hear sloshing noises from the roof of your car. Do not back up, do not slam on the breaks. You will get drenched. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Lesson learned at age 17: Eating your weight in sweets and then having microwaved porkchops for dinner will give you food poisioning.
Lesson learned 8 hours later: There is nothing fun about food poisioning. _________________ Britland as dubbed by AsA

Addendum to the above -
When doing repair work on wiring in an older house, common sense says to pull the fuse first. Slightly less common sense, courtesy of yours truly, would like to remind you to check that the fuses are correctly labeled. Also, 240v at 10A hurts. _________________ If it's not on fire, it's a software problem

I learned not to jump on ice. I elbow-dropped it and had a nasty bruise.
I also learned to wait before your foot isn't asleep before you start moving. More specifically jumping across the hall too your locker. Sprained ankles are nio fun _________________ Yo.
