Indeed. So, let us make a quick list.
Fantasy: Creature based, magic based, a single power available to everyone.
Scifi: Robots, aliens, colonization of the universe. There are tons more, I'm sure.
Post-apocalyptic: Zombies, nukes, and disease are the three main types, I think. (The problem still around, the problem gone but the world severely damaged, the problem gone and the world remains as it was)
Steampunk: Gosh, I have no idea. I don't think I've even ever read a steampunk story. Someone help me out here.
I'm really unsure what to do with the furries. Can we forgo that altogether? I just don't know where to put them. XD |

@Tamir: Technically speaking, Anthromorphs (or "furries") are possible in every scenario with sufficient Suspension of Disbelief. Or, we could have it the result of some experiment in the world's history. If Anthromorphs want to be played, we could find reasons to involve them in every case... _________________ . I know, I just mean that I don't know how to put them on the list. So since you're here, help me out with steampunk. You know quite a bit about it, ja? |

There's a saying among Roleplayers:
"If you're unsure how the setting for your new campaign shall look like, go to your shelf or GURPS sourcebooks and and blindly pick two. Combine both genres to form your new setting."
In a way, that's what I was going for with the Furry Steampunk suggestion: Two genres that don't have very much to do with each other, combined to form a unique setting.
But perhaps you're right and a more "generic" approach to the genre question is in order...
So, here's a list of possible choices:
Mythology: Illias, Odyssey, Edda, Nibelungenlied, etc.
Low Fantasy: Conan, Red Sonia, Ladyhawk, etc.
High Fantasy: Lord of the Rings, Dragonlance, Warcraft, etc.
Steampunk: Arcanum, Girl Genius, Deadlands, etc.
Arcane Investigation: X-Files, Buffy, Supernatural, Torchwood, etc.
Cyberpunk: Shadowrun, Blade Runner, I Robot, etc.
Post Apocalypse: Mad Max, Fallout, Wandering Ones, etc.
New Frontier: Firefly, Galaxy Rangers, Saber Rider, etc.
Space Opera: Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Wing Comander, etc. _________________

@Tamir: I'm kind of a newbie at steampunk, actually. I've done a lot of research, to take over for Tomato, but... yeah. Cyberpunk is much more my flair, I could go on about that all day. They're rather connected really. Instead of everything being technologically advanced, everything is technologically reduced...
Currently, my favorite options are High Fantasy and New Frontier, though Space Opera and Post Apocalypse sound fun. I'll play anything, to be honest. I just like writing. _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

I like mythology(especially Greek), high fantasy, and the X-punks. I'm not too much interested in post-apocalypse, but I would still take part if that was part of it. _________________ Talked to a man who caught the

If the vote is split, we could do like Lope said about combining genres with whatever wins. _________________ ...In accordance with the prophesy.

I don't know if I plan on voting... The only thing I'm not active in right now is a Sci-Fi story, and I don't mean to sway the vote by my personal work right now. It isn't fair that someone who's in all four of the forum RPGs should decide the course of the fifth one. ^^; _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

| It's totally not! ^_^ Every member is just writing a short story (or two if they're really interested). This doesn't have to be ongoing. |

I would certainly hope that it does go on for quite a while.
But it is definitely not the same as an RPG project. _________________

I'd definitely by interested in participating, and threw my hat in for post-apocalyptic as my first choice. But I'm pretty much up for anything so long as it's a bit fantastical. _________________ Bernard [about the job]: The pay's not great, but the work is hard.
