Ponce, that was pure awesome! ... ... Today I'm posting from the western foothills of the Rockies! I think I got some beautiful shots of the mountains, and from what I hear we're lucky just to make it through the pass in December. Into the desert from here, although from what friends say Nevada will be just as bad. We shall see! Back to the trip, I'll talk to you all later. _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

Today I'm posting from Nevada. We're in a small town with a historic railroad, and the oldest casino in Nevada. Starting tomorrow, it also will be my brother's home. He got a job working for the railroad, and that was the primary purpose of our impromptu road trip. We're going to stay the night here, then head to Reno at some point before Friday to fly home. All in all, the scenery has been gorgeous and the weather has been frigid! Still, I think we saw many things that summer tourists miss... Well, later! _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

In the last two days I read:
- Chapter 2 of "Women, Fire, and Dangerous Things: what categories reveal about the mind" by George Lakoff, which is an extremely dense academic book based on roughly equal parts anthropology, psycho-linguistics, and neuro-science. One chapter at a time is all I can take.
- Brisingr by Christopher Paolini, which was annoying in that the author didn't have the discipline to finish his story in three books.
- The Fairy Returns by Gail Carson Levine, which was charming, if a bit fluffy.
- The Gate to Women's Country by Sheri S. Tepper, which was really interesting, though it has an exceedingly grim take on male behavior. _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |

Yesterday was Christmas Adam. A bit of a bad joke I heard . . .
Yesterday it was so cold that my cat sat on top of the vent whenever the heat came on.
Today I must take the test for my online class. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Adam came before Eve, so it's Christmas Adam! =D
Or you could just call it Christmas Eve Eve, but I'm fond of corny jokes. >>; _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Today I worked, but we closed early since it's Christmas Eve.
Now I am just getting all the last minute details taken care of. Fun times! _________________ Dubbed "Cher" by Asa

Today My brother came home for winter break, and we opened all the presents. I got some lovely jewelry from my mother, and $25 to Barnes&Noble. Um... and a calendar, and a notepad.
My brother got my mom a 365 calendar "For Women Who Do Too Much", a not so subtle hint... she appreciates the sentiment, but as she was going through the pages, we all thought it sounded a bit rude. We'll see how it turns out.
Today I slept late and watched TV all day, instead of cleaning my room. ^_^ _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Today I finished sewing a commissioned Jedi costume; all I have to do now is sew the big robe. It took quite some time due to sheer volume of fabric and the fact that I French-seamed everything.
French-seaming= essentially sew the garment twice so that all edges are hidden in 1/16" piping inside the garment. Adds strength, structure and neatness.
Today I curse the amount of clothing Jedi wear. Inner tunics, outer tunics, two tabards, obi, voluminous robes... _________________ Lithrath=Lisa according to Asa, though I respond to Lithy as well

Hmm... today I much lurve Nu's new avvie. ^_^
Also today we got Fuggles Hannukah presents as well - a tennis ball-ish barbell, and a bike lock cable for the banister. He has a nasty habit of chewing through any fabric he gets his teeth on, including his nylon leashes and the coating for the barbell. So now he can chew his 'leash' as much as he likes, but he'll be hard pressed to chew through metal. If he does, I think we'll send it in to Ripley's. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^
