The Dark Knight was amazing! Though I was largly creeped out by the movie - I don't like violence or crazy people killing others - it was very good. I think heath Ledger played an excellent joker. Hmm, I;m not sure how to describe him - other than that it was very, very good. You couldn't even tell it was him, and the Joker's character was portrayed very well I thought - granted I know almost nothing about the originals. It was a bit over the top that they ended up having two villians though - or perhaps I was just annoyed because I'd been holding the urge to run to the restroom for about an hour. I asolutely loved the ending. <3
So quick review thing, and i must run now. GO SEE IT! _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

I've finally found a musical that's too musical for me: Mamma Mia. Maybe I'm not giving it enough of a chance, and I'm probably going to go see it again--I loved the ending, and I though it was pretty cool throughout. I just thought it was a little overkill on the singing... I don't know why I think that--I love RENT to pieces, and there's NO talking in it. Somehow, though, I just kept looking forward to the talking parts...and I'd be sorely disappointed when they'd say two lines then burst out into another song. I'm going to give it another chance when I see it with other friends. Hopefully I'll be able to appreciate it more. I'll also brush up on my ABBA. _________________ Keeper of Zaebos' and Jormand's powers.

doesn't that make it a rock opera mane? _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

I wouldn't say so because there's *just* enough talking to not classify it as an opera, but too much music to be a musical. There were just some parts that I felt were forced awkward and could really be better done by talking--it sometimes felt like they were just throwing this or that song in to gratify the ABBA fans. _________________ Keeper of Zaebos' and Jormand's powers.

Haha, I heard Across the Universe was like that - it makes you wonder which band will get a movie were their songs replace dialog. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

It wasn't even dialogue most of the time... It was internal monologues. _________________ Keeper of Zaebos' and Jormand's powers.

Dark Knight was AMAZING, bizarre. and had a FABULOUS ending. What made it such a bizarre superhero movie was that it wasn't one - it was a crime drama which just happened to have Batman in it. The real lead role belonged to the city of Gotham itself. Heath Ledger was psychotic - his Joker was like watching an excited dog playing enthusiastically with a corpse.
Anyways, you all must go see it!
Also, Watchmen trailer gave me goosebumps. _________________ My printer thinks it's some kinda guitar hero because it won't stop jamming.

Well, as you know from my post on the main page/blog space or whatever you'd like to call it, I LOVED The Dark Knight.
Fantastic in every respect! For example (and omigosh spoilers so beware):
Katie Holmes absent!
Main characters aren't invincible!
Harvey Dent was expertly portrayed and I loved how they showed a little bit of his dark side before he went over the edge. (Also! Aaron Eckhart is Mormon! lol...)
I loved how the Joker's story of how he got his facial scars changed each time he told it. It really added to the character.
Mob banker taking out the henchmen at the beginning was great.
But... I have to say that I actually thought the ending was kind of stoopid. I mean, how hard would it be to pin those murders on some random Joker stooge? It would be TOO easy. There was no need to blame it on the Bat.
Also, Scarecrow? I dunno, I kind of thought he was more distracting than anything else. I still love his character though, don't get me wrong.
And this isn't really a "review" point... but it kind of creeped me out when the Joker did his "magic trick" with the pencil and most of the audience laughed. I mean... I guess, but ... really? I dunno.
And and and... this is TOTALLY irrelevant... but the Watchmen trailer was really interesting and it gets super extra bonus points for using "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning" which is the remix of "The End is the Beginning is the End" by the Smashing Pumpkins WHICH was the theme song for Batman and Robin (which unfortunately sucked).
How's that for irrelevant trivia for you? (I know way too much about the Pumpkins)

Wow...there's a Twilight movie coming out...I wonder how that'll turn out. The trailer looks pretty intense though. ::hopeful:: _________________ Fall down seven times, get up eight. --Japanese Proverb

My thoughts on Twilight are eerily close to Shinga's, author of Head Trip.
That said, it's also one of my guiltiest pleasures. I'm a sucker for romance. _________________ Keeper of Zaebos' and Jormand's powers.

Maeniel, I love you. I love you so much for showing me that!
Only movie I've seen recently was Hellboy, which I'm sure I announced I was pumped for, and I gotta admit I'm sort of bitter. It was a really disappointing movie so far as I'm concerned. I feel kind of cheated, which is bizarre, but I feel like it COULD have been amazing but just...wasn't. _________________ If you're reading this, you haven't quite made it to the next post. |

*snickers* Ohhh, I feel guilty for laughing at that. I liked Twilight and I don't even like romances like you! Still, I hope the movie turns out okay, since the book was enjoyable.
And Edward doesn't look like that! *snigger* _________________ Fall down seven times, get up eight. --Japanese Proverb
