I never could turn down a challenge, lol. I don't know if my poem really...fits with what most people will write, but it's more specific to my situation I think. Anyway, judge it for yourself, love or hate, it is what it is, and it's me. I've color coded the chorus lines, and the last two stanzas (I think the term is) keep the chorus pace, but switch to a bit heavier singing. Or, well, they do in my head...

I'm sitting up in the dark
We're both trapped in this frame
I struggle, try to understand
But the answers won't stay the same

Peaceful, you're sleeping on the couch
With a happy smile, lost in bliss
Fell asleep watching your nightly show
I know this is something I will miss

But how can I face what I try to hide
How do I become a better man inside
Nothing worth having is ever easy to obtain
But the life that I'm living
Feels like I'm living it in vain

I could never wake you up to say this
So many words you wouldn't understand
A million reasons I've been given
And I still can't make my stand

So let this poem be my record
Of what I wish I could say tonight
Don't ever let people lie to you
Or tell you it won't ever be alright

I may not be the best role model
I may never become that man
Have faith in what I say to you
I love you as strongly as I can

But how can I face what I try to hide
How do I become a better man inside
Nothing worth having is ever easy to obtain
But the life that I'm living
Feels like I'm living it in vain

There are still decisions I cannot make
And a moment can be too much to take
I'm fading from all of this pressure
Yet I can't move until I'm sure

I've never had to face what I am inside
And I can't find a way to shed the fears that I hide
Every day is a struggle to try and stay sane
But for all the battles that I'm waging
Know I'm fighting in your name
