"WHAT IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS SHINY IS GOING ON?"
Being woken early in the morning had not put the captain in a good mood, and to top it off there seemed to be unnecessary drama.
Sara marched down the central hallway to where the midst of the commotion seemed to be coming from, but then she noticed Adella and Clint going into Angela's quarters and a horrible foreboding came over her. She rushed to the open door and looked inside to see a chilling sight. Her cook was spread over a chair, clearly dead, and there was a heavy looking wrench on the floor. She swayed, momentarily dazed, but then shook herself. Take command Sara!
"Adella, you should leave. Come with me, let Clint do his job."
She gently took Adella by the arm and tried to lead her from the room.
Once in the hallway she barked orders to her crew.
"Everyone. Recreation Room. Now. Restrain him." She said, indicating Sam, who was still struggling with Tally.

Jay had snuck a look over the captain's shoulder, and her eyes widened. The girl was obviously dead. Mutely, she went and grabbed one of Sam's waving arms, twisting it behind his back. He was probably stronger than her, being an engineer and obviously in a rage, but she was going to try anyways. "No one's mad at Adella, Sam, and if you really care about her you'll calm down and follow the captain's orders quietly."

Adella slowly trodded to her room, she watched everyone go, she had been so preocupied with trying to tell Clint about Angela she had forgoten about most everyone else.
She looked at Sam upset at something and Jay calming him down. Tally and Clint standing at Angela, and she finally looked up at her Captain.
"Why me...?"
Adella took out a necklace and began rubbing the beads while she murmured "Pater noster, qui es in cælis, sanctificétur nomen tuum. Advéniat regnum tuum...."
And let herself be led to her room.

"Don't you ever shout at her again, you got that?? I'll tear your guts out!" Sam shouted right in Tally's face. She blinked. This was very un-Sam like behavior. She was only stunned for a second though. As Jay twisted Sam's arm behind him, Tally slapped him once - hard and fast - across the face, then leaned in and seized his ears, bringing her face in close to his. Eyes glittering dangerously, she murmured, "Sam. No. No one is bothering Adella. Snap out of it!" her last words were a shout; things were going too fast for her.

"WHAT IN THE NAME OF SHINY IS GOING ON HERE!??!?" Sara strode into the melee and Tally repressed a sigh. This was insane.

After that, things went even faster. She lost sight of Sam, who looked rather dazed, and of Jay and Adella. Belatedly, she realised she should follow the captain and Clint.

Walking silently, she moved to the open door to Angela's room. She hadn't know the data analysist very well, but the sight of her cold, marble-white face and staring eyes shook her.

Even though she was shaking on the inside, her outer face remained smooth and emotionless. She was still a street-arab at heart. Death was no stranger; she had seen worse deaths than this.

She silently awaited Clint's analysis.

Clint shakenly examined the body. He found trauma to her head, as if from a blunt object. There were also several large bruises that were still forming on her neck; most likely death because of head trauma or spinal injury. She was also still warm; this happened within the past couple of hours.

Clint removed her blouse to check for other possible causes of death. As he did, he noticed a handwritten diary that was tucked loosely in her blouse. Opening the cover, he accidentally smeared the ink; she must have been writing in it when she was killed. Reading it, Clint found that it talked about the crew.

Starting with the Captain, she said that "Sara is all about tough love; she gives her all to the crew, but she expects them to give everything they got to the ship.

"First mate Tally is a nice, but quiet girl. It's sometimes hard to read what she's thinking, but she means every word that she says.

"The medical officer, Clint, is even more shy than Tally. He's friendly, though, and really goofy; he'll do pretty much anything for you if you get to know him.

"Sam, the engineer, is also quiet, and he's reclusive, too. He's incredibly smart, though; he could probably figure out any code I put up.

"Lindsay is Sam's apprentice. She's not very good yet...but she's incredibly enthusiastic and outgoing! It's really refreshing to have somebody who initiates a conversation in this ship.

"Adella is really awesome. She's a great cook, and she knows how to make a mean lemon-merigue pie. She's really helpful and laid-back, too.

"Jay, the navigator, has a temper, but that's okay. She's usually laid back and can be mischievous at times. It's fun to prank the crew with her."

After that, it became a long scrawl--presumably, this is where she hid the diary. Flipping through the pages, Clint came across a rather cryptic poem in the front cover.

"Roses are red, and violets are blue
Animals live in a petting zoo
4 after 3 but less than 2
You should know that I heart you!"

Clint set down the diary and examined her back. He spotted more trauma to her spinal cord. Definitely a blunt object was used to bludgeon her to death.

"Sara, Angela was beaten to death with a hard object. Not very big, but also very hard. Something metallic, and," Clint bent closer to the broken vertebrae, "with parallel angled tips. Sharp enough to leave scratch marks, but blunt enough to not really pierce the skin. I'm going to guess that's it's something like a wrench or a really heavy two-pronged fork."

Clint looked around the room and saw several locks. He looked back at the diary. "This is what she wrote just before she died. She also has this poem at the beginning... I think it's the key to unlocking her locks." He sighed. "Trouble is, I can't figure it out."

((Maen, it wasn't Tally, it was Angela! Razz ))

"Sara, Angela was beaten to death with a hard object. Not very big, but also very hard. Something metallic, and," Clint bent closer to the broken vertebrae, "with parallel angled tips. Tally listened woodenly. This was really, really not good.

"This is what she wrote just before she died. She also has this poem at the beginning... I think it's the key to unlocking her locks." Clint sighed and looked frustrated. "Trouble is, I can't figure it out."

Although Tally was curious to see the diary, she felt something pushing insistently at the back of her mind. Wait...

"Where's Lindsey Farhen? The apprentice?" Tally said aloud, her quiet voice breaking the heavy silence. "And if I may voice an obvious statement which I am sure we are all thinking, who on earth on this ship would want to kill Angela?"

It was a long speech for her, and she found a blush warming her cheekbones from speaking out in the silence. She wished she wasn't so cursed shy.

((Grah! Movin' fast!))

Lindsay, in her room at the other end of the hall, had finally gotten out of bed due to the racket and was getting dressed. Figuring it was just loud morning problem in the hallway on just another another day, she took her sweet time. She'd actually washed her uniform the previous night, and was relishing the fact that no one could tell her that she smelled today. Still, she had been looking forward to sleeping in until noon, and this ruined that plan.

Finally, hearing the Capitan yell her lungs out, Lindsay stepped the pace up, approaching the group quickly, but missing what Tally had said.

"Thanks for waking me up before my shift, guys- God you're loud! Whats going on?"

"Oh. There you are." Tally nodded to the Captain and Clint and excused herself quickly.

"Come with me." She said curtly, and hauled the taller woman to a small niche in the hallways, a ways away from Angela's room. Without further adieu, Tally said brusquely, "There's been a death. It appears Angela was bludgeoned to death with a some sort of object." Tally's face felt too frozen to do anything but look cool and assessing. She hoped Lindsey was too shocked to see it.

Sara was volcanic. "There has been a death upon my ship and I want ALL OF YOU in the Recreation Room NOW."

((Skip to rec. room. Hope y'all don't mind!))

She surveyed her crew.
"The situation is this. Our Data Analyst has been killed. Brutally. It looks like it was done with this." She held up the heavy wrench she had found on the floor. "I want to know what you know. You will all go to your own berths and await me there. Everyone will lock their doors until I knock and announce myself, whereupon you will open up and answer my questions. Are we clear?"

After being escorted away from the crowd by Jay, Sam dropped down and sat on the floor. He stared at the opposite wall.

"Something's wrong." He spoke after a while. "With me, with the crew. What's all that noise they're making? Something must be wrong."
He looked up at Jay, who was impassive. "And if something's wrong, it'll be Angela's fault." Sam continued. "I argued with her last night, after dinner, about something....I don't remember what it was, though. And she was jealous of Adella. I remember that."

Jay seemed about to reply when the crowd of crewmembers milled by, buffeting them towards the rec room, where the captain said that Angela was dead. Killed. Sam kept turning his gaze to Adella, so he missed half of what the captain said, but one thing he heard bothered him a lot....

"Hold on," Sam said quietly, "that's my wrench."

Sara regarded her chief engineer coolly. "I thought as much. To your rooms."

Jay looked between Sam and the wrench. Could he have killed her? He seemed to be on some sort of meds, so it was possible that he hadn't realized what he was doing. And it would be just the sort of trick for a murderer to play innocent, but it would also make her look guilty if she cast the first stone. She could see the suspicion on everyone's faces - no one trusted anyone anymore. They were all on their own.

Sam rose and made his way to his room before anyone could say anything else. His mind was troubled.

Was he the killer? He would kill for Adella, wouldn't he? Had he?

"I am going now. I will be a few minutes. When I get back I do not expect anyone to be left in this room."
Sara walked slowly out of the room and followed Sam to his. Knocking on the door she announced herself and waited for him to open up.

"Come in, please," came Sam's voice from somewhere inside his room, "I haven't locked my door yet."

As the captain opened the door and walked in, the sight which met her was a very orderly one. Sam's room had almost no mess, nor did it have many things which could point to the fact that it was, indeed, his room. It seemed the engineer himself was the least neat of the things in the room at that moment. He was sitting on his bed, looking away from the door. His head was bowed.
