*Cough* as some of you might have noticed a few topics seem to have gone off topic. Well here we have a thread where you cannot go off topic, because there is none. Discuss whatever you wish to your hearts content.
/Edit,I couldn't think of anything to talk about before, something came to mind thought. Yesterday I told my mum I want to drop out of university and she was really understanding. I think I made a mistake going to uni, several mistakes in fact, I used to enjoy studying religion but the course at Leeds just hasn't interested me at all. And I haven't met anyone, it gets really boring being in a strange city with no friends. I do have two friends there, but we're not close.
I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do next, I know a lot of people are probably thinking I should get a job but right now the only job option I have is working in a shop of some sort. My mum knows me better than that, it doesn't come across online but I am terrible in dealing with people, (sometimes I find it difficult to talk to my own family). I'm just a quiet person by nature but when dealing with strangers I panic and can't think at all. So working in a shop would be complet disaster.
I've been writing my whole life so after the year is up at uni I won't be going back and instead I'll be focusing on getting published. (Yes, I'm fully aware I may not be able to make a living from it but right now it's all I want to do.)
Hm, this was a long edit. _________________ Britland as dubbed by AsA

Well, good luck with your getting published. I'm actually considering doing that myself - though not for a year or more yet. I've got this book I'm writing (that I think is absolutely, terribly cliche), and I'm planning on trying to get it published, but i want to polish it up as much as possible before hand. SO I'm writing drafts and getting feedback from a few friends and once I'm done with the draft I'm on, my sister will edit it for glaring grammar errors and things that need patching up as far as plot line goes.
Well, at least you realize that writing novels isn't a reliable career. That's a step above than a lot of people I've talked to who want to write. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Good luck to both of you. I can't help but be curious, what do all you write about? fiction, I guess, but what kind? _________________ Dubbed Cube by Asa

The book I'd like to have published first (I've written several). Is a fantasy about an angel. In a nutshell: The main character Sildra, hates Heaven for various reasons, so she runs away to Earth and enrolls herself in New York University, whilst there she makes three friends; David, Tasha and Natalie. She and Natalie also meet two guys called Buzz and Morris, who just happen to be Beelzebub and Asmodeus in disguise.
And now...Toast! _________________ Britland as dubbed by AsA

Asmodeus is extrabiblical, part of the Book of Tobin. While mostly canonical, it's not exactly biblical.

Yeah I know, Asmodeus appears in the Apocrypha (you don't have to be so nit-picky). In the book I don't actually refer to him being a Biblical demon though.
p.s. didn't your name used to end in kai? _________________ Britland as dubbed by AsA

Good luck to the both of you. I know how hard it can be by way of my mother. She is a published author and does a lot of editing for other authors. So once again, good luck in what you doing. _________________ Dubbed FOOT by the awesome AsA!!!

I tend to do mostly fantasy, though I have several regular fiction, and a few historical and such.
The book I'm working on is about this group of people who can travel to different worlds, or realms as they're called. The majority of the realms are aware of the others, there's only two that aren't. Specifically, it's about this one boy, who's part of the organization(as we'll call it), who gets stuck on one of the 'sleeping' realms. And then of course everything goes horribly wrong.
That's a terribly tiny nutshell, it makes it sound all horribly cliche and stuff. I'm not going to lie, it is a bit, but not as much as that description makes it sound. I think. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

I figured they had to come from somewhere... I'm not well versed in the Bible.

Have you ever read Diana Wynne Jones' Chrestomancy series? I know your book probably isn't as similar as that nutshell made it sound, but I couldn't help but be reminded of it... Cliche is ok, as long as it doesn't become a string of cliches one after the other, _________________ Dubbed Cube by Asa

Funny you should bring up publishing! One of the things that happened to me whilst the forum was le gone, I was able to get a job with a friend in his magazine. It reaches like 20, 000 people right now, which is groovy. And he wants my sister and I to do book reviews. It's a motorcycle magazine, so right now I'm on my first forray into the world of motorcycle poetry. It's...interesting XD.
It's cool that you'll be able to devote all your time to getting published though, I'm totally jealous! You'll remember us little people when you're a rock star author, right? |
