Aww puppy! ^__^

I hope your mom does well on her job interview, Alli!

Let's see . . . I've finished my internship, I think. I'm waiting to to hear back from my professor to confirm my hours before I take official leave, though.

I gave advanced warning to the editors, and in response they've offered me a freelance position. ^_____________________________________^

I HAVE A JOB! . . . Sort of.

In other news I went back to the eye doctors about my eyes still messing up, and we've determined two things.
1.) It's an allergic reaction.
2.) There's a very high possibility it's an allergic reaction to cats.

At some point in the very near future I need to go get an allergy test done. *sigh*
I don't want to be allergic to cats. =(

Naming your dog after a musician is awesome. We have a black lab at home, they're absolutely adorable. Lab puppies have separation anxiety issues, though, along with high energy, and they like to chew. Our dog, in the course of his puppy-hood, chewed pillows, shoes, books, rugs, newell posts, and drywall. Our previous dog chewed on phone wires, at least until he got shocked once (not that phone wires are a danger anymore...).

Anyway, keep an eye on that, and make sure he gets plenty of exercise!

I've got my own dog update: I've had Nessie for three weeks now, and she's really calmed down. She eats her food when I'm absent or late at night, but I think she's getting a full load, so I'm not too worried. Her rash is getting better. I took her to visit two families with young children yesterday. One had three rambunctious boys under the age of eight, and they were literally all over her - pulling on her tail, pinching her face, hitting her with toys - and she did not a thing. Nothing! Their mother is scared of dogs, so she was closed out on the balcony. The worst she did was move away from them and peer woefully through the glass. She's amazingly calm with people, and getting better with other dogs - she never starts the barking anymore, and doesn't start the scraps either. And she sleeps all day! She jumps up on the bed when I'm gone, but she knows she's not supposed to, so she's always hiding under the desk by the time I get home.

That's good to hear about Nessie! Sounds like she's made real progress with you ^_^

Our other dog, Oscar, is a lab/spaniel cross, so we're aware of the chewing! He wasn't too bad but he still managed to rack up shoes, cell phone and electrical wire, and his relatives chewed straight through the kitchen wall of their home Confused As for separation anxiety my Mum works from home, so he won't be left alone much, and when he is Oscar will be around too so he should be ok. Also, I'll be around! To play! With a flollopy puppy! Yay!

Apologies for the double post, but it's two days later and I am willing to accept a poodling Razz

I just spent a bit of time looking back through the old today threads in search of an author's name. On this journey into the past I discovered something I have been aware of for a while, but a stroll down memory lane illustrates it nicely. This forum is full of good people. Even if we've lost some, even if not everyone posts all the time, everyone is there for everyone should we need support. I really appreciate that, and I appreciate all of you.

Thank you.

Totally. We've shrunk in size, but never in quality. ^_^

Today was a major fast day and day of national mourning for the Jewish people. The fast ended twenty minutes ago and I still haven't eaten. I've got a plate of fish and rice sitting right in front of me and I'm waiting for my friend to come join me. Update: my friend got lost, I'm going to go find her. ^_^

In all of my internet wanderings, I've yet to find a better community of people. You all are amazing. ^^

Today my sister has a job! She's been interviewing with schools in South Korea all summer, and she's finally found one she likes. ^___^
She'll be gone for at least a year, starting in August. I might have to find some way to visit her.

Today I've decided that I definitely do not work in PR. Ever.

Today I did a dumb. I had samples all ready for analysis and forgot to press 'Start'.

*headdesk*

EDIT: I have redeemed myself somewhat by negotiating a contract with the printer (hereafter referred to as 'the obstinate'), in which I (hereafter referred to as 'the numpty') agree not to ask the obstinate to print double sided, providing the obstinate agrees to print anything at all.

Today I'm at the beach!

I didn't realize how much I needed a vacation until I collapsed on a hammock and cat-napped for two hours and watched the sun set. It was lovely. ^^

Today is the day I leave Norway. I'm largely excited to be going home, with only a twinge of feeling that I will really miss this place. It's been home for two years, and even if those years haven't been the best of my life, they have been amazing and I'm very lucky to have had the opportunity. So long Norway, and thanks for all the fish.

Today, teaching someone a bit of programming.

Lisp is a really nice first language for people learning - working out a percentage they got:

(defun percentage (a b)
( * 100 ( / a b )))

Which when they passed it 4 7 gave

400/7

At which point, in most languages I've taught as a first language before, people panic and go @_@

But they realised it was a type error and played around with google a bit and went:

(defun percentage (a b)
( * 100 (float ( / a b ))))

Which gives you the right answer.

You've really got to love having higher level blocks like that and an interactive env. The nice part of teaching lisp, one of them anyway, is seeing people learning for themselves after a bit because the interpreter is interactive enough to give them meaningful clues about where to go next.

Uhm ^^;

I'll go sit over here now Razz

Hope you're all doing okay. ^_^

I bought a car today! It's stick. I drove stick for the first time tonight. I drove my normal route to work, a favorite lunch spot, and back home.

Holy crap, what did I get myself into?

Yesterday was my last first day of school. That's terrifying.

In other news, I returned from an extended vacation to learn that my town has reached national infamy again. Sigh.

It's been quiet here recently, hasn't it?

I haven't done much today but last weekend I went to the Edinburgh Fringe and met my favourite author (Neil Gaiman, squeeeee!) and saw one of the pandas at the zoo.

I had a great weekend but I haven't really done anything the rest of the week.

How's everybody else?

That sounds like fun Britland! I'm jealous!

I haven't been up to a whole lot recently.
I did sign all my paperwork for an internship at the local hospital, though--so that should start this week!

And yesterday my family went down to my great-aunt's farm and went swimming. That was fun. It was a gorgeous day. ^___^
