Well, Nem, there's lots of people of questionable humanity, that doesn't make them robots. Perhaps 'sentience' is a better adjective?

Maybe they've trained monkeys to do it. Or enslaved aliens or something.

I was all excited when I saw new posts in the introduction forum.
"Ooh!" I thought to myself "Here is a new person who would appreciate a cookie!"
Then I noticed the other forums all lit up as well.
"My, my," I continued, "they surely are enthusiastic!"
The name made me halt a little, but maybe their parents were unconventional.
"I'm sure Fibsxvz would be a lovely name if I but knew how to pronounce it. Maybe I will ask this new friend!"
The titles of the threads started were another sticking point, but far be it from me to judge another's enthusiasm for portable sound systems.
"Maybe this new friend does indeed have a good offer on stylish and extortionate headgear. Maybe they are just trying to spread the good word of Dre."
Somehow I doubt it. _________________ He who does not eat cheese will go mad. ~ French proverb.

As it turns out, those "Beats by Dre" headphones are pretty much garbage/rubbish when it comes to audio quality. A pair of $7 ear buds (the kind that go into your ear a little bit) are much better quality. And those Dre headphones cost like $150.
Anecdote aside, I believe we have dragon food. _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

I also got excited when I saw all the post alerts, but immediately thereafter I remembered that the forum just isn't that active anymore. Then I looked at the name, and saw the gibberish... and the post titles were the final nail in the coffin. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Mmm, the best neutral headphones for ~$100 are, in Nem's biased opinion, easily the Audio Technica AD700s
http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-AD700-Open-air-Audiophile-Headphones/dp/B000CMS0XU/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1347393138&sr=1-5&keywords=audio+technica
That's a lot of headphone for your money. Great for classical and Jazz, anything like that. Though of course the open back design means that the bass isn't punchy (though Nem would say that closed cans create an OVERLY punchy bass - completely ruining a natural sound and making you much more likely to acquire ear damage besides since so much of the sound is being focused in one direction, generally much closer to your head, rather than having the opportunity to be attenuated by the air.)
Not that you can really buy headphones for someone else - all headphones are a bit of a compromise. Even in the case of electro-static's cousins - there largely for nothing else than the price since it's a really incredible technology _________________ Never forget,

Well I have a topic I want to introduce for discussion, but it will have to wait until this most recent spat of Dre-bots is taken care of. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

I do sometimes worry about headphones being too bassy, but I tend not to wear my better Sony headphones for bass unless I'm in a really unpleasant mood. Most of what I listen to doesn't have a lot of bass anyway, and it's really only when I'm in a dubstep mood that I end up wanting that deep wobble and crunch. Dubstep is... interesting. It's a really very acquired taste, I think. I once heard it described as sounding like "...dumping a bucket of screws into a ceiling fan." Add in some bass, some wobbles, a drop, and you probably could make a dubstep song out of that. >_> _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

Well this is new. Instead of posting one in every thread, kgonmsf posted once and then replied six times. It's the Louis Vuitton thread, if that wasn't obvious to anyone. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^
