Those are clever! A few are a stretch for me (especially 'fixie'. What?) though I suppose all that does is reveal my non-geekiness... _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

You know how there's always people asking your opinion about things you really don't know about? And you give your opinion anyway, because who doesn't like to feel helpful and important, but then they keep asking for information?
Anyway it happens to me fairly regularly. And I always warn them that I can get them more information, or a link to a website, but I'd just be doing a Google search on it, so they'd be as likely to do it themselves. If you're familiar with that phenomenon, then this website is for you! www.lmgtfy.com. Possibly you can guess what it stands for. In either case, click this link for a demonstration: http://bit.ly/PrHsDb
It's so funny! It's so, so funny!
And yes, I did sit there for five solid minutes trying to think of a good example to use...
EDIT:
Also! Also! Ahhh! Ahhh! I've been searching for this website for years, literally, and I just found it again! Just this second! IT'S THE COOLEST THING EVER! SO COOL! http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/jw/soprane.html
EDIT 2:
This is what happens when every appointment I had today was postponed.

Because science. Also because this goes on to explain where Carbon, Oxygen, and Nitrogen come from. If you ever watch Niel DeGrasse Tyson explain his views on the connection between "down here" and "up there" (terrestrial world versus universal), he is just so enthrallingly eloquent about us being made of "star stuff".
In fact.. Here, I included a bit of the lead-up, but listen through to his most "fascinatingly disturbing thought":

Remove the space before the [/url] tag, I think. I ran into that problem recently also. _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

Nope - I thought this might be the site that only takes links if they're in "" marks but it's not that either >_>
Just pasting it straight into a post it cuts off at the em-dash, so I'd imagine the software's either not written to know what to do with them, and is just executing a general 'oh noes!' thing, or it qualifies as an escape sequence for some reason. :/

Edit - even more disturbingly that's actually going to the right place, even with only half a link O_o _________________ Never forget,

That guy's really annoying. Pin your hair back! It's distracting! And stop saying "kay?"! I wanted to hear what he had to teach, but I don't think I listened to more than two minutes of it. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Here, Nem, you posted something about sword smithing a while ago, so here's another for you. It's a NOVA program about the Ulfberht swords.

Oooooohhhhh! I likes.
On this same topic, once things are less crazy at home my brother and I plan to start smelting aluminum. I have no idea what I'm going to do with aluminum, but we have all the tools to smelt it into ingots. More useful to have around than the $5 you get from a trash bag full of empty soda cans. And yes, we're smelting soda cans. XD
I also looked into smelting and smithing steel. It's actually not THAT difficult to forge simple weapons, and most of the strength comes in how you squelch it (from my novice understanding).
It's one of those "end of the world survival skills" things that have no practical application but is still really awesome. _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .
