Thank god, a C compiler without an attached IDE.

Add it to your system path, fire up a command prompt in the background, point notepad++ and the prompt to the same folder, and enjoy the ability to rapidly work on multiple files at the same time without having to mess around. _________________ Never forget,

Because the Forums don't have a "Like" feature, I had to log in just so that I could tell you that I like this. Also, that this is awesome. _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

That .... made a lot more sense after I realized that all those pictures are animated GIFs.
I have GIF animation turned off by default, so I saw nothing but the first frame of each until I figured that out. _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |

Ah, indeed. That would make it a bit tricky. _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

It bears mentioning that Canada is has a unicorn on their crest:

That makes them rather awesome. (For all my Canadian fellow forumites) _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

I was sort of talking to Tenshi about something vaguely connected to this last night, amusing story - just a couple of minutes.

I don't know if it's my computer, the poor reception here, or the forum, but I wasn't able to click on the 'page 18' link and get through. Fortunately, the 'post reply' link is on every page! ^_^
Usa: Haha! If only that were a photo of him from 1992, I would be 100% behind that shirt, however misleading it really is! (argh, those cheekbones!)
Nem: I assume the relevant part is the failed money-rocket? Though he is a really engaging professor.
MY contribution is classical remixes of popular songs. I've been really interested in them in the past few months - well, I was really interested in them before that as well, but was introduced to one group a few months ago and another one this morning.
The Piano Guys is a great group, amazing stuff and amazing videography.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VqTwnAuHws&feature=player_embedded#!
Another amazing group is the Vitamin String Quartet.

See, this makes modern music worth listening to! I have sat more than once trolling through these groups' youtube playlists. If anyone knows of any other classical remix groups, please let me know! I'd love to hear more. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

This made me giggle because I know what the jargon means for real, and it took me a repetition or two (plus the alt text) to get the joke.

Hehe, that one was really funny. The alt-text about had me rolling on the floor laughing. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Have I mentioned how much I love how to spot a psychopath before?
| Quote: | Question:
OK, so I've got 60% of a critical mass of plutonium in my left hand, and another 60% in my right hand, and I smash them together.
What happens?

Anyway, yeah. Great website.
If you read the first link there, you get the feeling that early scientists were really careless with this stuff.
| Quote: | On 21 August 1945, Los Alamos scientist Harry K. Daghlian, Jr. suffered fatal radiation poisoning after accidentally dropping a tungsten carbide brick onto a sphere of plutonium, which was later nicknamed the demon core. The brick acted as a neutron reflector, bringing the mass to criticality. This was the first known criticality accident causing a fatality.[5]
On 21 May 1946, another Los Alamos scientist, Louis Slotin, accidentally irradiated himself during a similar incident using the very same sphere of plutonium responsible for the Daghlian accident. Slotin surrounded the plutonium sphere with two hemispherical cups of neutron-reflecting material; one above and a larger one below. He was using a screwdriver to keep the cups slightly apart, which kept the assembly subcritical. When the screwdriver accidentally slipped, the cups closed completely around the plutonium, sending the assembly supercritical. Immediately realizing what had happened, he quickly disassembled the device, likely saving the lives of seven fellow scientists nearby. Slotin succumbed to radiation poisoning nine days later |
Doh! >_<
I know it's probably not how it happened, but you just have this image in your head of scientists idly leaving big spheres of plutonium on the floor and under piles of paper and stuff, - or in draws with screwdrivers - in the same way a kid leaves his model trains lying around. ^_^ _________________ Never forget,

2Cellos is also a really good group.

I think that someone posted a remix of theirs a while ago--a cover of "Smooth Criminal." I don't know if they were actually a group then, though. I remember being under the impression that it was just an interesting youtube video.
They do more covers than remixes, but their stuff is still gorgeous. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

Mushi-Shi is very a good anime, one of those magical laid-back stories that comes along rarely. [It's not the sort of story where only good things ever happen mind - I'm not using magical in that sense.] Adventure with just a hint of melancholy. It reminds me of a cross between the episodic storytelling of Cowboy Bebop (though this lacks an overarching story) and that feeling you got when you were a kid first reading the Hobbit.
With just a hint of melancholy. It's much like watching a dream really. And like a dream the relationships between the characters are ephemeral. Fragile things.
Ginko, the titular mushi-shi, is essentially a travelling supernatural detective. Though that's not a very good description. Heh.
Funimation has it on their youtube channel

Give it a looksee, I think some of you would really like it ^_^ _________________ Never forget,
