Dere iz only WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

So, at some point during this morning's DnD session, we managed to get the terms "DEX bonus" and "BS" muddled up with each other and that led to a request to see our army list. So here it is:

Bigboss Grummage's Sneaky Gitz

HQ

Bigboss Grummage (Warboss)
Warboss 60 pts, Twin-linked shoota +5 pts, power klaw +25 pts, total: 90 pts
Bigboss Grummage's warband, the Sneaky Gitz, are, technically, Freebooters, since he was unceremoniously booted out of the Deathskulls for pinchin' his boss' favourite Snotling, Tikkla (who rides on Grummage's shoulder to this day - mainly because his feet are nailed there). However, he continues to meticulously paint his horned mask blue (or, more accurately, he continues to make the grots meticulously paint his mask blue) and still thinks of himself as a Deathskull. He is, however, just smart enough to recognise that he needs all the boyz he can get, and a fair few of the Sneaky Gitz are former members of other tribes.

Elites

Da Heavy Ladz (Nobz) [count as a Troops choice due to the Warboss' "Da Big Boss" special rule]
5 models at 20 pts each, no upgrades, total: 100 pts
Da Heavy Ladz are the biggest and meanest of the Sneaky Gitz - except for the Bigboss himself, of course! They will sometimes follow him into battle, but just as often rush off straight into the thick of the fighting without bothering to take notice of what the Boss is bellowing at them. This leads to a fairly high attrition rate among the Heavy Ladz, since if they don't get themselves killed by the end of the battle Grummage will make sure to snip a few necks himself.

(Boyz)
20 models at 6 pts each, 2 big shootas at +5 pts each, total: 130 pts
There are no stories told about regular boyz, and the Boyz know it. Each of them aspires to become a Heavy Lad, to join Zagsnik Skwadron or even to start his own warband.
Most of them will fail.

Grodsquig's Kannon Fodda (Gretchin)
19 models at 3 pts each, 2 Runtherds at +10 pts each, 1 grot prod at +5 pts, total: 82 pts
Grotboss Grodsquig is the only member of the highly patriotic Goff tribe to have joined the Sneaky Gitz. This wasn't his own idea - like most of the warband, he was booted out of his tribe, and in Grodsquig's case it was for being too small. Even among non-Goffs, the highest position he can hope to aspire to is Runtherd. This is a constant source of irritation, and he will take any excuse to grab a Gretchin with his long-handled grabba stick and fling the hapless runt into a wall.
Being surrounded by terrified Grots all day does have one perk, however: his armour is even more scrupulously painted and cleaned than the Bigboss'. Well, that and the fact he's always got a snack within arm's reach. In fact, Grodsquig has it pretty good, but you will never, ever hear him admit it.

Fast Attack

Zagsnik Skwadron (Deffkoptas)
3 models at 35 pts each, 3 twin-linked rokkit launchas at +10pts each, total: 135 pts
"Zagsnik" translates poetically as "lightning strike" and more accurately as "fast assassination," and that's exactly what Zagsnik Skwadron does best! Being Orks, what they're not so good at is remembering to bug out afterwards. As a result, the Meks usually have to build a whole new Zagsnik Skwadron after every battle. The superstitious ex-Deathskulls steer well clear of the deffkoptas, not wanting anything to do with what they see as a "cursed name," but the ex-Evil Suns among the warband have no problem hopping into the pilot's seat - indeed, the main problem is keeping them from taking off and attempting to shoot each other down when there's not a fight going on.
Fortunately, there usually is a fight going on.

Heavy Support

Blitzgob Ardenuff (Deff Dread)
1 model at 75 pts, 2 rokkit launchas at +10 pts each, grot riggers at +5 pts, total: 90 pts
Blitzgob Ardenuff is a being that embodies the duality of the universe, his mind and body being separate creatures.
Of course, the Orks don't think of him that way - they think of him as "that Mad Dok who wired himself up to a big bug." Unlike the usual Ork-in-a-big-metal-can variety of Dred, Ardenuff is - or was - a Tyranid Carnifex, cut off from the hive mind and mentally controlled by the cybork Painboy who has connected the bug's mind to his own with nails and wires. Grot orderlies scamper around the beast's feet, treating its wounds with fightin' juice and cement but mostly trying not to get stomped on. What nobody tells the grots is that they are not there so much to treat the Carnifex's wounds as to be mobile nutrient resources for its own regeneration ability.
Blitzgob has been permanently barred from face-eating contests after he "accidentally" used the wrong face and swallowed Big Mek Dakkabitz whole.

Total: 627 points. As you can see, so far it's basically just Black Reach plus a couple of boxes of Grots and the living Dred. Nor does it really live up to the "Sneaky Gitz" moniker right now, including neither Lootas nor Kommandos. We do have a number of plans to raise the amount of looted stuff, including a Trukk made out of a Land Speeder Storm and a Battlewagon made out of Tau tanks with a cheese grater for a deff rolla (it will be called Da Grater Good).

However, at the moment we're working on Project Jugganort, which is quite likely to end up being the second biggest outgoing spend we've ever had (of course, the biggest outclasses it by an order of magnitude). Big Mek Dregsteel's "speshul projekt" currently consists of four Rhino-variant chassis welded to big plates of metal ripped off a space hulk. Even Dregsteel isn't quite sure how what's going to end up on the top yet, but one thing's for sure: it's going to be dead killy.

_____

The other half of Black Reach is is becoming the beginnings of the Spirits of Gravity, a chapter that specialises in heretic-hunting. However, they do not always see eye to eye with the Ordo Hereticus on these matters, and have emphatically never fought beside the Adepta Sororitas. They especially didn't retake the world of Kal in a joint effort with the Order of the Golden Wings, and anyone who says they did is obviously a heretic and should be doused with holy promethium and read the Litany Against the Mutant before being immolated.

I used to have a solid Chaos Space Marines army, but I never played, nor did I finish painting it. Had some cool fluff, though.

I'm really enjoying the horus heresy books at present. Heartily recommend them if you fancy some mindless escapism.

Orks or is it Orcs? I can never remember. There an interesting choice as a first army. As a (proud) player of both 40k and fantasy for the past 6 years and I am glad to see new players. I love your back ground you have the orks/orcs down to a T. If you want advice on a list with extra cheese I can give some ^__^.

They're "orks" in the future.

This post put here so as not to clutter up the Today thread!

@Tyris: Using your two Nob biker squads with pain boys, an Ork warboss and Gaz-Skull list? Have you no shame?

The only one of the above we have is a Warboss. He is pretty dirty in close combat, though - with five S10 armour-ignoring attacks he's pretty much guaranteed to bring down anything that doesn't bring him down first.*
Though that might change when the 'nids get their Trygons...

As to the bikers, they're getting incorporated into various projekts, the painboy is part of the Deff Dread, and while there might be nobody bigga dan Ghazghkull, there's also nobody slowa.

*Which is a lot of things (everything else ever gets to attack first), but hey.
We're going to model up a version with a big choppa, who will trade 3 points of Strength and the power-weapon-ness in favour of often attacking first and being much cheaper.

Then take two warboss's put them on bikes, bring the Nob biker squads (who are now troops) with pain boys (feel no pain) = two ridiculously fast hard hitting units at T5 with a 3+ cover and a 4+ feel no pain, who can take and hold objectives. Always bring a power claw; they are made of win and victory.
Drop a warboss and bring Gaz if you can, then stuff him in a truck; take a spare for when his personal transport inevitably gets exploded, he is so cheap for what he does.

I have faced variants of the above and it is not pleasant, however I much prefer 'themed' lists then the power gaming ones I am usually forced to play. My local gaming group is all about the tournament.

I am working towards finishing my Guard Valkeryes, picts when I am done as they should be pretty.

Yes, well, ours is a themed list. Lootas and Looted Wagons and "counts as" vehicles all around.

Although some of them are still in potentia. Embarassed

Waaagh ha ha! Sounds like you're off to a good start. If you're going for the lootin' side of things, then you're in luck. Pretty much every model kit, or really anything for that matter can be turned into an ork vehicle.

This is hilarious, but only if you play 40K and do not speak German, so I am posting it here rather then the ‘you tube made of awesome thread’.

That clip of Hitler having a hissy fit has been used for SO MANY THINGS. I've seen at least six different variants, and I'm sure there are dozens more out there.
