Have you taken it to your school's IR, Miho? I know that a lot of times, ours will do everything short of taking it apart and examining it piece by piece. (And sometimes they WILL do that if you don't care about/don't have a warranty.) _________________ Keeper of Zaebos' and Jormand's powers.

$130 for a wipe and reinstall? Jeez, I'm in the wrong scam ... err, line of work ...
It does sound like a virus, or possibly AVG got borked and is hogging the system's resources in the background?
Try starting it in safe mode and running your scan there. To do so:
1) Turn off the computer (it needs to be completely off, not sleeping).
2) Turn it back on.
3) As it is booting, press and hold the F8 key.
It should give you the option to choose "safe mode" for Windows, which only loads a minimal set of drivers, services, etc. Once it's booted into Safe Mode, try running your virus scan and see if it gets through. _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |

Today, himmmm what did I do today? I fought sleep for about an hour last night until one. I finally gave up and sent my housemate to bed as he had work toady at 7. He was doing stuff to my PC to make it run better. Or as he likes to say giving it the love and affection it deserves. It worked too. I got up at about two and fought with Photoshop and Paint for 3 hours, I lost that fight.
I then realized that I had work today, while in the shower, with 20 min to get there. I rushed to work where I failed to drink enough, causing dehydration, gaining for myself a lovely headache. The wonderful smell of solvents that wafted around work did nothing to help, neither did the panicked crowds of shoppers who where tiring to get rid of their money as if it was poisoned.
All in all a day with every hallmark of being extremely unpleasant but was surprisingly enjoyable. I suspect this was due to, among others, me having to hold 4 different text chats during lunch and getting to work in less than 15 min. Small things like that. I am glad that it has ended though.
@Miho: good luck with the PC. _________________ "He gave you a life and you should cherish that treasure." - Benny

Today I managed to dislocate someone's wrist. Oops. <_<
Rationalisation/analysis: Didn't hear anything; the wrists in question were so flexible you didn't exactly get a point where you could feel they're going to go.
Still pretty annoying. More-so for the person in question of course who seemed to be in a reasonable amount of pain afterwards.
Retrospectively there are a couple of ways to have got around it for either party but I think the likelihood of caring enough to implement them is pretty low. Some people are too easily broken and it's not worth the bother of protecting them.
They didn't seem massively upset anyway, apparently they pop joints out on a fairly regular basis, just didn't put this one back in properly.
Today I have German homework due. A language I know practically nothing about.
Today I think I need to get hold of my advisor of studies at some point. Drop this course, pick up something easy - computer science or the like. At this point it's inevitable I'm going to fail. Maybe I'm just kidding myself that if it was possible to write stuff down I'd have made the effort, but without the provisions for that it doesn't really matter one way or the other. _________________ Never forget,

**gives anthrax a big hug and a waterbottle and pain reliever for headache**
**hugs miho and gives her a cookie**
Today was gray, dreary, rainy, cold and all around unpleasant weather-wise.
But non-weather wise it was a pretty ok day, rehersal for a our candlelight service tomorrow made my throat hurt after it hurting since yesterday... Poor throat.... u.u _________________ Hoffman icon courtesy of my very good friend, Isaymakebelieve, on LJ, check her out! http://community.livejournal.com/isaymakebelieve/

Today I watched The Orphanage for the first time. Creepy, but good. Substantially less gore than El Laberinto del Fauno, but much of the same playing with what is or isn't real, and with an equally solid plot.
Now I need to go watch something cheery, or I'll have nightmares. Maybe Kiki's Delivery Service?
And I'm looking forward to Avatar when it comes out. _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |

Does this person have an explanation for their easy dislocations? It may be worth them talking to their GP about a referral to a Genetics service, since that sort of medical history can be connected to disorders which can have serious health effects long term which should be monitored. _________________ Keeper of Tristram's rings, and Felucca's very expressive ears. |

They may have loose joints, which can be aggravated by certain activities. I knew several girls on the swim team that had loose joints; one of them dislocated her shoulder in the middle of a butterfly stroke, and popped it back in the very next stroke. Couldn't swim the rest of the day, but this type of thing wasn't a rare occurrence. _________________ Keeper of Zaebos' and Jormand's powers.

Today I was very nearly late to my first lecture. It started at 11 but for some reason I thought it started at 12. I was just getting in the shower at 10 and realised I had to leave in 15 minutes.
Manged to get there on time somehow. _________________ Britland as dubbed by AsA

I always get The Orphanage and The Devil's Backbone confused. Not that I've seen either one of them. Yet. ^^;
Today I was going to take a math test, but alas, I have forgotten my calculator. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong
