We've had all kinds of things. I think what we've worked out over time is that it should be longer than a paragraph, and shorter than a multi-chaptered fic. If it's more than a few pages, post it somewhere like www.fictionpress.com and link it here. We've also had people put their piece in a quote box, since that drops the font size.

Don't cramp your style to keep to an artificial word limit, but don't 'go crazy' either. Although, if your idea IS long, post a shorter version here and keep working on it!

Well, I've written it now and it's not that long. I'll post it in a few days after re-reading it twelve times :p (It's based loosely on an idea I've had kicking around in my head for a while, so I didn't have to spend ages planning it).

All I have done is to go through some pretty terrible out lines as I hunt for ideas. You know what this means right? Yes that’s right, it is time to get out the big guns and the night vision goggles for this hunt.

Well... I've had an idea for an epic sci-fi novel in my head for a long time, and for many years I've been developing it. So when I was thinking about aliens, this came to my head. It seems like a good idea, so I took a chunk of backstory from my notes and wrote it together.

It's put together, but I wouldn't say it was finished yet :p It's a... rough draft. It's the shape of the story, but not necessarily the finished thing.

I am in trouble, I have one or two ideas none of which inspire me. I fail to see how any of them could be used to write a reasonable short story. I will have something but it will not be pretty. At the moment my work could be described as having a face only a blind mother could love.

I will not give up, but you guys may wish I had once I post it. Very Happy
