[fangirl] Oh my gosh, the Chicago area Classical station ROCKS. It's privately owned, there are no adverts, and all the sponsoring ads are read right there by the announcer! Live! And there's only one like, every hour! And there's no annoying non-Classical music to break up the good stuff! And there isn't the problem of overly repetitive songs, because where you could fit 10-20 songs per hour on another station, classical songs are much longer! And there's no jockeying for first place or anything like that, and they're all so good... *le sigh* WFMT is like the epitome of Classical radio. At least, it was a long time ago. I don't know what it's like now. [/fangirl]

And does anyone who listens to Classical remember "Adventures in Good Music"?

*small voice* Does anyone listen to Classical?

EDIT:
Oh wait. That was off-topic wasn't it? Sorry.

Ugh, another song that bugs me is Natasha Beddingfield's Pocket Full of Sunshine or Love like this. I've kept my silence so far on it, cos I know a lot of people like her ... for some reason I find it exceedingly annyoing.

AsA: I can't fangirl classical right now--I'm talking about music I don't like. Smile

MEEEeeeeeeee!!!

Music worthy of hate includes certain rock songs that repeat the same insidious line over and over and over and over and over and over again. I really think Pirate ought to get rich off of writing lyrics for some of these bands. *breaks into air-guitar solo*

Oohh.... page 4 is apparently for classical-fans only, I'll join the bluc ^__^
And yes, excessive repetition in music is VERY annoying.

I've really learned to hate nearly everything they play in Hot Topic. And I was a quick study, too. The Lady already brought it up, but whereas Iike melodic/symphonic/good metal made by people out of puberty, I can't STAND music with a bunch of screaming in it. Any screaming, actually.

I sort of always thought to be a singer you had to know how to...you know...sing. Not just wail at a weird pitch for ten songs straight.

I'll join the classical bandwagon also. A good lady friend of mine introduced me to more than just the basics, and I have to say there's a broad range of very good music out there. A lot of different genres within the "classical" tag, and almost all of it good.

Back to hatemongering...

At the risk of inducing the ire of the class, I will admit to listening to bands like Atreyu, Cradle of Filth, Flaw, and their ilk. That's a couple of different genres, by the way Razz All of them include some part of that "screaming" that seems to be such a hot topic, but that isn't the main focus of the band. A good example is Atreyu, which has two singers (one is the drummer also). The lead singer isn't too good at singing, his voice sucks for it, but he can REALLY put power and anger into a song. The drummer has a softer, slightly more melodic voice (nothing awe-inspiring) that offsets the other singer and provides for some interesting effects.

..meh. Honestly I don't listen to any of them often, but I do enjoy them occasionally. I'll also listen to Country, Rock Top 40, Pop Top 40(rarely), Classical, Techno, Big Band, Jazz, Swing, Metalcore, Heavy Metal also....um...yeah. I'll add R&B to the list, but not rap.

There you go, I dislike rap. Although I have a few songs that I can actually stand on my computer since my friend is a rap junkie, grew up in the inner city and all that. I hate his ringtone. "Every day I'm hustlin" over and over and over and over ad nauseum. What....is that? It's not music, it's not even interesting. Some guy grunting "Every day I'm hustlin'" while dressed in furs and gold chains, paying a dozen women to dance around him in bikinis and sitting in a car slammed to the ground with "bling" from grill to tailpipe.

I don't get it. Then again, I disagree with about every aspect of that lifestyle, so maybe that's it.

It seems likely that if one cannot relate to a "scene" of music, then they will not enjoy the music at all. Those who relate more strongly to soothing classical melodies, are usually the artistic and inspirational people in the world (like our forum-goers). Those who would relate to "screaming" music (metalcore is one aspect of this, btw) likely relate to that scene in some way... *shrug*

Erm, but yes. I dislike rap strongly.

Here you go, because it's not a good idea to focus on hate so much, I shall give you something to not hate!

In the case of rap, I think Dylan Moran had it right when he said;
Quote:
"You can go up to any five year old and say 'What do you think of the world?' and they'll say, 'I think it's rubbish cos I can't get stuff I want, when I want it. I wanna big purple chair and french fries and stuff and - and - NOW!' That's a rap song."

It's better when he tells it;

I like to shop there occasionally too, which is why I know I don't like the music Wink

You know what else music I hate? Soundtrack music that's too dramatic when it shouldn't be. Not only is it bad music, but it can ruin a film!
