I've noticed a similarity between a character from an anime called KIBA and Earthsong herself.
The character's name from KIBA is Afkareru.

As far as an anime design, Afkareru is rather unique and coming across a similar design caught my attention.
Is there any inspiration from Afkareru, or just coincidence?

It looks very similar to Earthsong (indeed, a lot of the universe shares some similarities with the ESverse), but Earthsong was created waaaaaay before this anime was originally aired. I know that I began reading ES at least by 2005, I think. The show began airing in Japan in April 2006.

Didn't realize Earthsong has been around that long.
Strange, but kewl, that a webcomic and a slightly less popular anime have a similar looking character.

Strange? Oh, not really. Coincidences like that happen fairly often.

And yeah, ES has actually been around a long time. Lady got a publishing contract at about the point we're at now, and then decided that she really had to re-draw the entire thing to bring it up to publishable standards. So we went back to the beginning and are only just now catching up to where we were before.

Also, she got married and had a baby. That kind of thing tends to cut into your time, you know.

There's not that much of a similarity, anyway.

She shares a lack of face (caused, apparently, by a mask, not just by her appearance) and a floaty dress. It's nothing to lose sleep over.
