I've got two kinds of apple pie, one with a regular pie crust and a lattice top, and one in a phillo dough crust. I do like granny smiths, so the filling is mostly green apples, with a few red thrown in for sweetness, and the second one has some cranberries for color.
And I've got mulled apple cider on the stove *points to the giant steaming soup pot with the ladle sticking out*. And if any of you want mulled wine instead, come speak to me privately. ^_~ _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Okay, you guys, now that's not fair... I used ten apples in each, and you're scarfing all my hard work? Give some back to share with others, please!
Or you won't get any of the surprise pie I baked for the end of the party. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

That's why there's also greenbeans sauteed with rosemary on the side board, along with kugel, smoked turkey, and Tamir's Dad's Apple Stuff.
Aka, the sideboard has the 'real food', if anyone else has anything to add to it. ^_^ _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

::Wanders through, sets a huge dish of pineapple casserole on the sideboard, and wanders on out again::
(Pineapple casserole is a family dish, and it's really good. It's sweet, but not overly so. It's a bit crunchy, but mostly it's soft. When it's warm, it literally melts into your mouth and is ten kinds of delicious. Cold, it's like soft candy. It's just....superb. ) _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

*spurns the evil that is pineapple... except when it's in a virgin pina colada*
And I'm curious if the resident Hebrew speakers wouldn't mind a quick translation of this song for me - Al Shlosha - it was sung by a children's choir that I went to see this past sunday and I'm curious what it means.

Do you want the literal translation, or the Anglosized version? I'll give it to you in English syntax, to make it easier for you.
"The world rests on three things: On truth (emet), on justice (din), and on peace (shalom)."
Basically it means that the world will continue to exist as long as these three things survive. This was for the 'Peace Pole' ceremony, right? The last bit would be why: Shalom means Peace.
My school actually appropriated it for a slogan last year. ^_^
Tam-tam might be able to give a more accurate translation of Emet, Din and Shalom, but those are the most widely accepted translations. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^
