Captain Jean Luc Picard, of the Starship Enterprise.
I, uh, was a pretty big Trekkie when I was younger.
I would totally agree for his voice being Bel. You could even have him do some of the CGI base for the model, being bald and all. _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

Wow, Kou Shibasaki looks like she'd be able to hold her own in a fight. She'd make a great Nan! (Does she practise any martial arts?)
Also, Patrick Stewart as Bel would be a fantastic idea! _________________ My printer thinks it's some kinda guitar hero because it won't stop jamming.

Well, here's some Mika Nakashima, mostly from her Nana era:
(I have a better image but it will KILL DIAL UP, and doesn't break tabling.)
Aaaaand Yuuko Daike:
(She's the lady in the blue kimono; the lady in a red kimono is actually a man)
Previously, since we were having trouble finding female actors for Nanashi, I was going to suggest we put in T.M. Revolution/Nishikawa Takanori instead.
How about Iain Glen for Bel? He's done Shakespeare, so I'm pretty sure he can do evil.

Mika's not bad either - the gritty shot of Kou has me heavily biased in her favour though
As for Iain Gain - I've never seen him in anything before, but he's got a good look for it.
But Patrick Stewart's voice is just a little to perfect to be Bel's (Sorry Jean-Luc!) - it's gotta have a bit of gravel/raspiness in it. _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.

That made me think of David Attenborough as Bel... >_> _________________ Dubbed Pants by AsA, via the way of the electric pants. |

David Attenborough's not gravelly o_O
The Rock would do well as Oliblish, I agree.
Someone who traditionally plays heroes would be an excellent choice for Bel, i think - I always liked those sorts of players against type. How about Morgan Freeman?
Alternatively, how about Jeff Bridges? We know (from Iron Man) that he can do villainous, and that he looks good bald =D _________________ Keeper of Tristram's rings, and Felucca's very expressive ears. |

In Daike's defence, I'm fairly sure she has a good fight scene in Zatoichi, but since it's an 18 in the UK, I'm not going to hunt down a clip and link it here. And in Mika's defence, the only films that I know she's done so far are the Nana films - unless punk concerts count as grimy?
To be honest, the best thing would to be to hop in a time machine and nab Fujiko of the Red Peony films... She's in her 70s by now, so a little too old to play Nanashi.
Iain Glen was sufficiently gravelly and villainous in Resident Evil: Extinction as an evil scientist. He was pretty gravelly by the end of that film anyways!
James Remar would be good to portray Bel, but I'm not sure if he's gravelly... Though if gravel is a must, Kiefer Sutherland of Clancy Brown might be your best bet. _________________ Bernard [about the job]: The pay's not great, but the work is hard.

Ooh-ooh! Rav's gravelly comment and spacy's comment about playing heroes made me think of... uh, that one guy. *smacks head* I can't think of his name right now; he played Gimli.
He's played villans before, at least in Princess Diaries (What? I have a little sister!), but he does heroes well, too. I think he'd be a really interesting take on Bel: you'd really believe he was a good guy when he offers to help, and he can be very menacing.
Not sure if he'd fit, but I'd love to see the audition tape.
EDIT: John Reese Davies, I think. Probably spelled wrong, maybe a syllable off. _________________ ...In accordance with the prophesy.

Hmmm...I'll have to make you a crown then...
Hey look! Another suggestion: Martin Short for Ulkurz, mainly due to his role in Merlin (1998) as Frik. I'm surprised he's already 58 though...

Ew! That's a pretty good live version of Ulkurz! lol...
But alas, you're right, he's probably too old now. Especially since being Ulkurz requires crawling around on the floor and leaping about on all fours. _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.

WOOO! GO KOU! XD
She really is a great actress.
This one's less Nanashi-ish, but it's still un-glamorous. Plus it's from my favorite movie, Chakushin Ari XD
No feedback on Kristanna yet... _________________ Just because I like scary things doesn't mean I'M- okay, it kinda does sometimes.

Hmmm...For Bel, what about Ian McKellen?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_McKellen
And for K'thonya, I could also see Kandyse McClure (I love her eyes! Guhh!)
In fact, I'm also very on board with Starbuck...err, Katee Sackhoff...as Tengu. BSG re-casting for the WIN!
For good measure:
For Tristram...I can't help but picture Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, specifically the JRM from Bend it like Beckham:
For Nanashi, I'd love to see Kuriyama Chiaki - I saw her in Ju-On a few months ago, and when she's not being the sadistic killer she portrays in Kill Bill 2, her emotional range is pretty great - plus, I think she has the features for it! ^_^ Stern, and yet still a bit feminine!
For Earthsong - if we're going live-action here, one actress who has the most EXPRESSIVE eyes I've ever seen is Jennifer Beals:
She's on the younger side, but I think it could work!
I also have the PERRRFECT actress to portray Felucca....
Leisha Hailey! She always has this mischievous grin on her face...I've always heard her voice as Fel's when I read the comic.
I have some other ideas, too, but I need to ponder them a little more I think. XD _________________ Ask me about my Bruins obsession.
