Well., speaking on the MPAA's behalf, it's not just greed and corruption and fossilization speaking (although those are large factors), it's also because there is concern for the people in the movie and music industry-the unsung heroes who build the sets, mix the music, develop the software, etc., etc. The American entertainment industry employs hundreds of thousands of people, and the money for their salaries and wages has to come from somewhere.

But they are being left far behind-they need to adapt or die.

Whoa, socialist? Methinks that's a bit of a stretch. The only party on that list that's even left of centre is the NDP and since they're all going to have to comprimise to get anything done, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Aside from the BQ being in some semblance of power... that moderately worries me.

Anyhow, I'm kind of a fence sitter about this coalition anyhow. I don't care much for the conservatives, but the politicking of this coalition has been rather ugly on the other side, so meh.

Well, legal, but is it really the right thing to do? It's a redistribution of who's paying for the "piracy" to those that aren't piracy...which is really just the content provider's way of saying really nasty four letter words to its real customers while raking in extra money they wouldn't normally get. Squee's with Tin on this one...adapt or die, even in Canada Razz

Whoa, socialist? Methinks that's a bit of a stretch.

It is a stretch to call the coalition Socialist as a whole; what I meant is that some parts of their agenda (most notably NDP and some of the Independant supporters) seem to follow Socialist ideals but recognize Canada's current socioeconomic status, hence 'almost' and 'some'.

Re-reading it now, I realise that I wasn't very clear. ^^0

I'm on-the-fence as well. While this could be a refreshing change for the country, the potential instability worries me (and I'm not too keen on the Bloc's disproportionate amount of power).

I'm thinking of turning that flag into a t-shirt...
