I don't know if this should go in General Discussion, because it really only pertains to our writing corner here... but anyhow.
I was re-reading some of my old work, poetry-wise, and I realized something... it doesn't have a logical progression. I was watching a segment Ira Glass was doing, talking about the two things needed for a good story. One of them was a clear progression, which made even a mundane thing interesting. It sort of sets up a "mental carrot" at the end of the story, as it were.
Well, I applied that to a new poem I wrote (which is in the Poetry Corner, btw), and I actually really like what I wrote as I go back over it. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, since I always used to hate what I wrote, and everyone else loved it...
Anyhow, thought I would share that thought. Having a clear progression, even a mundane one, really seemed to hold the flow together in the poem. It had it's own rhyming flow, and then it had it's own story flow. Between the two, I kind of liked it. I must now run off and go show it to my friend, who's a lead singer of a band very similar to Evanescence. > _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .
