Having an actress to play off of would only help so much. Earthsong hovers about 8/9 feet tall - they'd have to be looking FAR above the actress' head.
Maybe they could just have a poll strapped to their back with a picture of ES's face at the appropriate height? lol...
Anyhow, yes, ES would defintitely have to be CG, but the voice is important. Face less so, since ES doesn't have much of one to begin with. _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.

That's... exactly what they do in those situations, actually.
Also, the fact that Earthsong doesn't have much of a face is why having a really good actress would be important, so she can express emotion with limited features. _________________ ...In accordance with the prophesy.

I think Earthsong and Bel would work much better as live-actors!
Skin color can be altered either with makeup or digitally. The removal of mouth and nose (and elimination of jaw movement) would be done digitally.
Removing the lower part of their bodies shouldn't be too difficult either. In LotR, they used footage that originally had Andy Serkis in it. They dsigitally removed the entire actor and replaced him with the Gollum character.
And as to the floating height, just put them on pedestals and move them around the set on wheels. This also automatically eliminates any walking movements that might otherwise be visible in their upper body and the cloth of their robes. _________________

Bingo. The only slight issue is the necessity for flat terrain. But overall, that works. As would having them on wires. _________________ Keeper of Tristram's rings, and Felucca's very expressive ears. |

...eeagh. Partial face replacement? That sounds like a huge money-dump. (Not that money matters in this discussion, but still.) Now that they have this, all-digital is probably the best way to go. _________________ ...In accordance with the prophesy.

All of this would only be an issue for full-body and wide shots anyway.
For close-ups there are a lot of much simpler tricks. _________________

I whole-heartedly support Katee Sackoff as Tengu (typecast) and Nathan Fillion as Jormand.
There was one actress in the old thread who was suggested to play Felucca, and I can't remember her name at the moment, but I've come to associate her with Felucca. I think the Lady even endorsed her at one point. Anyone remember?
Kristen Bell as Neuria? She's got a lot of sass, and I hear she loves dogs - which seems appropriate.
My pick for Earthsong would be Elizabeth Banks. Yes she's on the young side, but she is very warm and sweet on screen:
Based on this picture alone, I would pick Zoey Deschanel for Willow. She's got the wide-eyed vulnerable stare down pat!

I get it! Yeah, that'd so neat to see!

Hmm. I like Banks as ES. Sure Earthsong is old, but she doesn't really look it to me. _________________ ...In accordance with the prophesy.

I've never seen Banks in anything so I can't really say what I think of her.
Zoey IS an excellent pick though! She was in Hitchhiker's Guide, yes? _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.

Elizabeth Banks has been on Scrubs and in the cheesy horror movie Slither (so bad it's good), as well as one other movie that's in theatres right now, but I can't say the title on this forum.
And yes, Zoey D. was on Hitchhikers, and she was adorable. _________________ My printer thinks it's some kinda guitar hero because it won't stop jamming.

I forget who mentioned it earlier, but I've decided against Christopher Walken for Beluosus - he's just too... loopy/quirky for Bel.
Nowadays I'm thinking more along the lines of Jeremy Irons or Alan Rickman.
And I was thinking the other day about Tengu... I think someone like Meg Ryan would be good. She's got such sharp petite features ... but I don't know if she could pull off the sarcasm that well. _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.
