Jack Thompson's lifetime disbarment has come into effect. To commemorate this triumph of culture over unreasoning bigotry you're all invited to celebrate.

I shall be tracking down a copy of Far Cry 2 to aid in my celebration. _________________ Never forget,

I did but then I realised I didn't have enough money (however, I also didn't know that it was JTDD...)
Stupid games here cost about x2 what they do in 'Merica and take at least 6-8 months longer to come out. What. The. Pancreas, gaming companies?
However, I am fairly certain that there is a copy of Spore somewhere with my name on it... _________________ Dubbed Pants by AsA, via the way of the electric pants. |

Don't buy spore. It's not what it's cracked up to be. Nothing spectacular really, if your a seasoned gammer.... |

@devilman - depends on the kinds of games you like. I love Spore, personally. The gameplay is a bit thin in areas, but I can spend hours and hours blissfully just in the various creators of each stage. _________________ I do commissions!

| Indeed, I believe Spore's strength to be not in the gameplay aspect but rather in the artistic aspect of it. |

He's a Florida lawyer who hates video games which contain any kind of violent or sexual content, and has spent a lot of time engaged in the following activites:
1) Trying to get legislation passed imposing punitive fines on anyone who sells a such a video game to a minor. (ref);
2) Suing or harassing people who make or like video games and/or oppose his particular agenda. (ref 1), (ref 2), (ref 3), (ref 4)
Usually he has very flimsy cases, and prosecutes them as viciously as possible. The last reference I gave there, for example, is about the time he sent a nasty letter to the mother of the CEO of the company that makes Grand Theft Auto, comparing her son to a Nazi.
Basically, he is convinced that playing violent video games causes violent behavior. Yet there are millions upon millions of people who routinely play violent video games, but never actually harm another person in real life. This fact seems not to have registered with him.
Anyway, he finally pissed off enough people that he got himself permanently disbarred by the Florida Supreme Court. _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |

This may just have to become an international holiday .
A thorough search of some of the more gaming-related web-comics can give you a good idea of just how a lot of people felt about him. Seriously, wanting to ban "The Sims 2"? _________________ If it's not on fire, it's a software problem

He sounds pretty violent himself. Not by his actions but with his words. _________________ Yo.
