Nothing, really. My impression was that McCain wanted to appear connected with an average-everyday-man-on-the-street, and so he settled on this plumber he met at a campaign rally or something and talked about him in the third debate. _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |

I don't know if it was a conspiracy. But anywho, I was at a resturant today, that had a few TV's on. I noticed one of the TV's was on CNN, and they were doing a report on ACORN. The Goverment is apparently launching an investigation into ACORN, because (apparently), they suspect that ACORN was, or did, think about trying to use the registrations to vote. Thought that was interesting since I kind of suspected that a couple posts ago.
Just FYI.... |

@D-man: another tone issue, me thinks. I don't know if it was a conspiracy, and I didn't mean to imply you had an opinion on way or the other. _________________ ...In accordance with the prophesy.

Technically, in the USA, the Electoral College decide the election. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they don't actually HAVE to follow the popular vote. It's basically tradition and honour that keeps them doing so. _________________ Keeper of Tristram's rings, and Felucca's very expressive ears. |

The Electoral College is the name of a system. Each state is worth a certain number of points, based of population, and whichever candidate wins the state gets all the points. That means that a candidate could win by narrow margins in big states, while losing by landslides in small states, and get the most points, while more actual votes were cast for his opponent. _________________ ...In accordance with the prophesy.

Electors act as functionaries for the State which elects them rather than the Federal Government so it varies on a State to State basis. Some States require them to pledge to support a certain candidate, some specify that if they then go against this pledge there will be penalties and still others specify that the vote shall become void in the event of them failing to perform their pledge. In any case the electoral college never meets as one body and as such it's still the people doing the counting that are doing the deciding ^_^ _________________ Never forget,

No, there was no tone issues. I didn't take offense at anything you said. It was just that I thought you were saying that you didn't believe it to be a conspiracy, and that I was a little vague on wether or not I thought there was one.
I just wanted to point out the fact that I thought that was ironic that there was a report stating the same general thing as the impression I got from earlier news articles and reports. |

So what do you all think of how our election turned out?
I think you all had the victor in mind, and I am the only person who wanted the loser to win.
Congratulations to all those who wanted Obama and got him! Now America truly can be,... an Obamanation!!!! But no,.... I wish the dude well. |

The American election put me firmly in mind of the Alien vs Predator promo stuff: 'Whoever wins we lose.' Well America that is.
Obama's spending rather smacks of a Keynesian economic plan; the problem with these things that America has always had is you never pay the debt incurred at the low point of the curve off when you get to the top again. You can't offset inflation against borrowing forever and escape the consequences. Then again the same complaint can be levelled against pretty much every American government for a good number of years now and he has done good stuff for freedom. It’s possible he can make it balance if he reduces military spending, but we shall have to see.
McCain's foreign policy really didn’t, and still doesn’t, seem tenable to me.
Oh well. Out of the two I’m glad Obama won, he seems like the lesser evil. Neither of them are saints. _________________ Never forget,
