"Oh gosh," you think, "what could this mean? Has Douglas Adams risen from the grave to amuse us some more? Are they making another Salmon of Doubt?"
The truth may be more horrifying than both those options. Eoin Colfer, author of Artemis Fowl, has agreed to write a 6th Hitchhiker's Guide book. May the Great Green Arkleseizure have mercy on his soul.
I know this isn't new news, but after not seeing it mentioned on the forum for a couple weeks, I decided to say something. |

I've never read any of the Artemis Fowl books, but in general I'm never a fan of other authors filling in for others... There's just too much bias on my own part for me to be objective and potentially enjoy it.
So I probably won't read this new one. _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.

The sad part about this is that far too many people are going to think of that movie when they hear about this.
I'm sure it had some redeeming features. Just because I cant think of any right now doesnt mean anything...
(Give me the BBC version anyday)
And now we have have the incredibly inaccurate trilogy _________________ If it's not on fire, it's a software problem

I do like Eoin Colfer, I think he's a lot of fun. But why would you write a sequel to Hitchiker's Guide? Does it really need one? It's the sort of series that could probably stop in the middle of the middle and say "we're all done here folks", and people would buy it just because the way things had been going already. This seems...like a desire for money, and nothing more. _________________ If you're reading this, you haven't quite made it to the next post. |

I like Eoin Colfer too, but it's like... getting Jhumpa Lahiri to write Terry Pratchett. I just can't really imagine it working. _________________ Dubbed Pants by AsA, via the way of the electric pants. |
