Worst day: 7 years ago. A week after my gran died we went on holiday to Holland. We were already delayed due to the funeral so were feeling pretty crappy. A few hours travelling didn't help, but the fruit basket that the resort left in sympathy did... for a while. My mum got a phone call from her dad saying "I've dropped your mum and she's in hospital" (she had a stroke when I was two and was paralysed in 75% of her body) she died two weeks later.
Another crappy day: 2 years ago. My brother was going to university. Very exciting, but me and my mum were both sad and thinking how much we'd miss him. We got home to a voice message from the hospital where my Papa (Mum's dad) was being looked after. "I'm terribly sorry, but your father passed away a short while ago."
Things like that never happen alone in my family. _________________ He who does not eat cheese will go mad. ~ French proverb.

Aww *hugs Alli*
That reminds me actually. . .
The day of my Granddad's funeral was horrible. It was February - though unseasonably warm. I had a very bad cold, and a horrible crick in my neck which prevented me from turning it a certain way. I hate sad gatherings, so I went exploring with my cousin down on on the lake shore, which we could actually do because the water was very, very low. I got my foot stuck in some mud, and then I stepped and ended up knee deep in something that was a cross between quick-sand and mud. I lost my shoe. I got yelled at when I got back, and then again when I was outside kicking a rock around. And then we went to the funeral and the rest of the day was thoroughly miserable.
It was funny, the day before he had his stroke, I was unreasonably happy. That always seems to happen right before something horrid. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

I'm going to stop reading this thread. It depresses me that I can't give you all real hugs! _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

err, yes... to clarify, it was the middle of summer, and because an engine is what caught fire they couldn't have any power on, not even auxiliary systems, so there was no climate control either. Just a ton of people crammed like sardines into a big metal twinkie. So we were getting cooked, rather than doing the cooking ourselves ^_^; _________________ I do commissions!
