Hey, I had an idea. Let's do a book-club style thing. That is, somebody picks a book, we all have a month to read it, and then we talk about it. Then somebody else picks the next book, and so on. We could do all kinds of books - some fantasy, some SF, some murder mysteries, some non-genre fiction, some biography, some assorted non-fiction.
Anyone interested? _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |

Brilliant!! I'm 100% in. I may not be able to do it every month, but it sounds fabulous. Can I reccomend 'His Majesty's Dragon' by Naomi Novik? _________________ Fall down seven times, get up eight. --Japanese Proverb

That'd be a good one; I'd like to do "Songs at the River's Edge: Stories from a Bangladeshi Village" by Katy Gardner. _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |

Sounds like fun to me! I'd get me out of my Pratchett spree (gonna read 'm all!) not that it's a bad thing though
Maybe something by Jane Austin? I haven't read all of her works, but I do enjoy the ones I've read.
As much as I enjoy reading, I'm really not all that well read, so a book club like this would help me branch out into unfamiliar teritory (ie not the classics) _________________ Keeper of Nanashi's Vambraces and the Amethyst Trees.

I would actually love to participate in this. I need materials to read, and I'm afraid I'm not very good at knowing what's good and what's not... _________________ Keeper of Zaebos' and Jormand's powers.

That sounds like enough interest to me - tell you what, everybody who wants to participate name one book. Horsin' has suggested His Majesty's Dragon, and I've put in Songs at the River's Edge. Once we've got six books we'll run 'em through a list randomizer and take them in whatever order it spits out.
Books suggested so far:
His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novik (horsin' around)
Songs at the River's Edge by Katy Gardner (Tinalles) _________________ Keeper of The Remnant Minuon (cognomen Lucy, the Eaten One) and the Emissary Caeli |

I'd like to participate, but because I've kind of got limited book resources at the moment, I can't promise I'll be able to do it every month. D:
Although I want to throw in a recommendation for some Neil Gaiman - preferably Stardust, but Neverwhere is pretty good too. |

Ditto - i'd enjoy this sort of thing, but i'm basically limited to the stock of my local library, which is not exactly extensive... _________________ Keeper of Tristram's rings, and Felucca's very expressive ears. |

I don't know what book to suggest yet, but this is an absolutely wonderful idea. I'm in! I hope our library has whatever books you guys suggest... |

Darn, we're in the presence of brilliance, Tin. Jane Austen sounds good, Lady. Actually, I just finished reading Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensibility for the umpteenth time... _________________ Fall down seven times, get up eight. --Japanese Proverb

If you're going for Gaiman, I'd read American Gods, or alternately Neverwhere. Stardust is a little bit young. I'm in on this, provided we don't start until May at least... stupid finals, grrr...
*pitches Roger Zelazny's Lord Of Light as a suggestion, since sci-fi should be represented...* _________________ The Keeper of Gwen's temper/K'thonya's tastes,

| Quickly veer to one side for an explanation - Stardust is a bit young I'll admit, but I only suggest it because it might be a better starter book for new readers, and I left my copy of Neverwhere at home. XD Stardust is all I have with me. |

I think something like this would be fun, though my participation would be limited to wether or not I have the time to read the book in question, and if I can get a hold of said book.
On that note, His Majesty's Dragon is MOST awesome, and Pratchett is freaking hilarious. Death is my favorite character... _________________ Mors Certa, Vita Incerta.

Excellent Cypher! Another Novik fan/ Temeraire-fangirl. (*cough* NOT that I'm saying you're a fangirl.) Pratchett is also awesome, along with Jane Austen and many others. Anyone thought about the Dresden Files? I don't know if a lot of people would like them...and Mercedes Lackey. Yes, Lackey is GOOD! _________________ Fall down seven times, get up eight. --Japanese Proverb

Well, I would love to join you guys but I've noticed that my non-school reading is currently at a level of about 50 pages/month. And that's not quite enough to keep up with a book club, I'm afraid. This sounds great, though, so I hope it works! _________________
