So here is a tread about new things your etc... sounds lame but it think could be fun with the right attitude.
My new thing is the new book in the Eragon series. For those who missed it it's about dragons that are ridden by humans and elfs and the first book was Eragon and he is a human dragon rider. The new book is called birsinger or birsiger or maybe birzinga. Any way it's a fun series if you like things that breath deadlier gases than mine and could eat whole villages. I do because it makes me feel as though i share traits with a magical creature.

I can't say I've ever been a huge fan of Eragon, for some reason. I just never managed to get "into" the story so much. I'll give the new book a read though, all the same. Thanks for the heads up!
Oh, am I supposed to post something new I'm doing/will be doing? I'll be going to a WVU football game for the first time in many, many years. Even better, it's between WVU and in-state rivals Marshall. Should be a killer game! _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

I bought the second and the first Eragon books. I read the first, and it was a little tepid but I went through it anyway. The second one I found deathly dull. I skipped 200 pages and didn't miss an inch of plot.
I don't think I'll be buying the third one. It's even longer.
My new thing is... my webcomic project! It's coming along nicely :3 _________________ Dubbed Pants by AsA, via the way of the electric pants. |

The plot parallels I found between Eragon and Star Wars, while watching the movie, were too canned for me to really get into the idea of going and reading the books as well. Watching the movie was a pleasant way to pass a couple of hours, but I do wish I hadn't paid $10 for the ticket.
New for me: The exercise regime I just started. That's it for right now, but hopefully with the bit of free time I suddenly have from being unemployed again, I'll be able to get to a bunch of artistic projects I've been meaning to do. _________________ I do commissions!

Boo. The Eragon movie was horrible. Read the book, and you'll hardly be able to tell they're the same story. _________________ ...In accordance with the prophesy.

Oh, so you mean it isn't just about a medieval Luke Skywalker and his heroic fate as the last great person with a special power to save the day? Accompanied by his mysterious mentor who dies too soon, a bad-guy rogue redeemed at the last moment, an uncle whose farm is attacked early on, and an enemy who used to be one of the goodguys? The only one that doesn't fit the format is the chick- oh wait! She's a renegade princess fighting on the side of a small but tenacious group of rebels against the big bad forces of evil...
yea, if that's not the book, then you can totally sign me up _________________ I do commissions!

Eh, most of that's sort of in there, but there's a whole lot more that goes on. The movie shortened everything and trimed every character down to one dimention. The next book is completely different, in terms of story, but, like Tenshi (I think) said, you can skip chunks without missing a whole lot. _________________ ...In accordance with the prophesy.

I found them to be. . .not good. I don't think things were developed as much as they could be and the writing wasn't great either. Oh, and he borrowed tremendously. What, elves came from some distant, mysterious land to the west in silver ships? Gee, never heard that before. . .
I'm still reading the third one, just to finish it.
What's new? Draft 2.5 of my book is new and coming along very nicely. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

I haven't read Eragon and I don't plan to. There's a lot I want to read at the moment and I don't have any real interest in it.

Sunshine a good name eh. She is sooo negative. I love it
*hugs sunshine
I do have agree that originality has been getting rarer though. Most frustratingly in the music industry.
I think it's because because of the "modern outlook," if you can do it cheap, fast and make lots of money it's a good idea. Furthermore artist have always struggled, particularly when it comes to making money, to express themselves without being confined to what is currently trendy. Because there is no way of knowing if a completely unique idea will fly.
I believe you should always strive for originality. To do what has never been done, go where no man has gone before. It would be as box of chocolates you never know what your gonna get.

oh, yes... I'm frightfully negative, actually. -solemn nod-
I do agree with you on music these days, and it's so sad to watch bands and musicians who have been rocking it for years and years get sucked down into the mainstream trends as well. Red Hot Chili Peppers is the best example of that. Their early work was so full of energy and this fun, impish sort of mischievous enthusiasm and now... that Dani California song's the best they can come up with. -sigh-
New for me: the local diner we always go to get Saturday breakfast now serves apple strudel french toast. Mmmmmm soooo tasty... _________________ I do commissions!
