And like you suspected, some of us forgot it already, even though we did learn college business calc, Tamir!
And space, I looked a little more closely at the disk i got from uni, and it says 'effective until April 2009'. It'll probably ask you to update the registy key. My school does that for anti-virus software and the Office suite (essentially at the expiry date it brings up a window like the one you had when you first installed it, you type in the new key and away you go. It still reads stuff when it expires, you just can't edit it).
As for calc help Red, I apologize; I'm an algebra and geometry type. ^^0 |

So someone's been trying to convince me that 1+0=0, which I am, sceptical of, to say the least. As far as I can see there's some arbitrary bracket insertion to an infinite series going on which I'm not sure is an entirely legal move; but since the last maths course I took was a rudimentary high school class it seems worth checking with the more maths inclined folks.
So anyway their claim goes like this:
(1+1) - (0+1) = 1
1-1=0
1+1+1+1+1+1+1..ad infinity - (1+1+1+1+..ad infinity)=0
1+(1+1+1+1+1.. ad infinity)- (1+1+1+1+1+1+1...)=0
1+(1+1+1+1+1...)+0=(1+1+1+1+1+...) /subtract (1+1+1+1+..) from both sides)
1+0=0

And my response goes like this:
(1 + 1...) - (1 + 1...) = 0
0 + 1
= (1 + 1...) - (1 + 1...) + 1
= 1 + ( 1 + 1 ...) - ( 1 + 1 ...)
= 1

The minute they stuck that "ad infinity" there, the equation already doesn't hold. The equation I quoted could equal any integer I want it to, similar to the way he made it equal zero. Infinities are evil like that. In general, an expression of that sort yields an undefined result. |

Orrr, 1+0 = 1 because can't you use your fingers. Sillyface. It's like saying down = up. Or something.
Seriously, I fail at maths but even I can tell that 0+1=1.
