|
|
There seems to be something off with the timetables of our Writer's Group projects.
If I understood it correctly, these projects were supposed to run over four weeks each, and start anew in two week intervals.
But now the two current projects are about to come to an end almost simultaneously.
I now see three possible options how we could proceed with further projects:
1) Start a single new WG (#5) after after WG3 has ended and wait another two weeks before starting WG6, thus re-establishing the original timetable.
2) Frag the timetable and just start a new WG anytime a previous one has ended.
3) Frag any kind of organization about the WGs and just start a new one whenever someone feels like putting out a new challenge.
Which of these options wpould my esteemed collegues prefer? _________________

In my opinion, the important thing is to have two mutually exclusive WGs going on at once, since we don't want to put too many participants in a single one, but we also don't want to exclude people. The two week difference is good because it gives people who were gone and missed one WG a chance to join the next, but I don't think it's crucial.
So, my vote goes to 1 or 2. Organization is good. ^_^
EDIT: You know what, I think the two weeks are important. Forum activity is always in flux, and doing the WGs with a break offers more options. I vote for 1! |

I agree with option 1 as well. Actually, I had been planning on delaying the opening of WG5 (I think that'll be the next one) for a bit. It's been kind of crazy for me, what with moving into the dorms and all, so I apologize about the odd timetable. _________________ . Dubbed "Usagi" by AsA .

I think this is just an odd time for everyone, what with the summer coming to a close, but in the Olde Forum, the two week intervals went off without a hitch.
My vote is for option one. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

WG4 is officially closing today. So if you delay WG5 far enough, it would end up being WG6 instead!
But of course, the WGs don't always have to be organized by you and Mane only.
This is the second reason why I started this thread; so anyone with an idea for a WG challenge could chime in and call dibs on starting the next one. Over time, we'd probably end up with a small group of regular taskmasters, while still allowing anyone to try his hand at it once in a while.
And I make a start by hereby announcing my own interest in hosting one of the coming WGs myself. _________________

This is getting too regulated and complicated. _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

No, I meant, the old way worked, and now we're adding new rules for all sorts of contingencies... if you've got an idea for a WG, why not PM one of the default leaders and ask to step in for one round? _________________ Self-styled Forum Grandmother, because I hand out nicknames and hugs whether you want them or not. ^_^

Well, yeah, I could do that.
Or I could just call out here in the open...
I would hope I'm not making any of this over-complicated.
The part I mentioned about a group of regular WG hosts was not meant as a target we'd need to work towards, but simply a prediction that it's probably gonna happen that way. _________________

I don't think we need all sorts of rules and schedules. If they happen to coincide, I feel sorry for whoever didn't get in...but you win some, you lose some. Schedules just aren't going to work because of extensions to the WG. I'm actually going to extend for a week WG 4 by request. These aren't drop-dead due dates--we're not publishers here. We're just doing it for the fun of it. Granted, you shouldn't just blow the due date off because you don't feel like it...that kinda defeats the whole purpose. But we're flexible here. Let's worry about it if it becomes a problem, but for now our current system works. _________________ Keeper of Zaebos' and Jormand's powers.
