Have you ever read Diana Wynne Jones' Chrestomancy series? I know your book probably isn't as similar as that nutshell made it sound, but I couldn't help but be reminded of it... Cliche is ok, as long as it doesn't become a string of cliches one after the other, |
Oh my gosh yes! I love those books! and no, they're not terribly similar.
awesome fable! It sounds like fun ^^

Well, the poetry IS pretty bad, if that dampens your spirits at all.
I think it's strange, though, almost any plot whittled down to it's bare bones SOUNDS a lot like at least a dozen other plots usually, and sounds pretty cliche. I think that's the inevitable result of whittling something down.
It all depends on how your write something, really. As long as the motivations for the characters are good, that story's is going to be really fun. I'd like to read it, at least. _________________ If you're reading this, you haven't quite made it to the next post. |

Bad poetry can do more than dampen the spirits. It can ravage your humors, cause your property value to depreciate, and even supports the emo cause!
Please, say no to Emos. Don't write/read bad poetry. _________________ :: I'm six foot four, an all-American guy, and handsome and talented as well! :: |

Chrestomanci books = lurve... Diana Wynne Jones is absolutely fantastic.
As for writing, although I am a non-stop typer/scribbler, I'm too shy to let anyone read it. Sucks, huh? I still like fantasy the most though. _________________ Fall down seven times, get up eight. --Japanese Proverb

You should never be to shy or scared to let people read your work. The worst any one person can say is that they do not like it, which would only be their opinion.
I do a lot of competition writing and everytime I turn in a story or poem I am nervous, but I take the criticism and use it to improve my writing. _________________ Dubbed FOOT by the awesome AsA!!!

If you ever want an opinion on your works feel free to ask me. I am pretty professional in my comments and will never degrade you or your work. I will only SUGGEST how to make it better, in my opinion. _________________ Dubbed FOOT by the awesome AsA!!!

I'm thinking of posting my first chapter in the Writing Section but I'm not sure yet. _________________ Britland as dubbed by AsA

You totally should. Do not be scared, let the world, or at least all of us, see your talent. _________________ Dubbed FOOT by the awesome AsA!!!

I agree, constructive criticism can help you out a ton as long as you don't let it get you down (but then it's not really constructive, is it?). I know we'd all love to read it, and a lot of people on here are excellent at giving feedback. We don't bite. ^_^ _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong

I think Brit knows that... though I agree, you should post the first chapter. _________________ Dubbed Cube by Asa

I feel like this topic doesn't pertain to me, and so I wish to talk about a topic that does.
Namely, my local food-place has specials of the day. Today's special: Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich. IT WAS AMAAAAAZING.
What are your cafeterias/diners like? _________________ :: I'm six foot four, an all-American guy, and handsome and talented as well! :: |

Rather average. We've got a lot of chain restaurants. Though my school's cafeteria does serve amazing food - it's just really expensive. Their curly fries are much desired. There's also this old fashioned hole-in-the-wall burger place downtown that's really good, and amazingly cheap as well. _________________ Keeper of Gaia and all the books on Earthsong
